The Priest House Hotel
A lovely historic hotel in a beautiful location. We visited in a family party of 8 for afternoon tea and all the public rooms were very clean, tidy & beautifully redecorated. The service from all of the staff was exceptional and the afternoon tea was delightful. All of the food was super fresh and tasty but particular mention had to go to the scones which were probably the best we have ever had.A good selection of sandwich fillings - coronation chicken, tuna, egg and cream cheese all on different breads with homemade cheese straws a very tasty addition. The scones were a perfect size and served with an individual pot of jam and plenty of clotted cream. There were 4 types of dainty cakes to top off the tiers and all were delightful. The tea and milk were topped up as much as we need and peppermint tea was supplied at no extra charge.Overall it was a wonderful afternoon and highly recommended.

Really nice place, out of the way, staff were really nice. The shower kept going a bit cold on me, but I suppose it wakes you up in the morning. Overall though it was a pleasant stay.

Went for sunday dinner. The soup was hot and tasty, however my husband s fishcake although nice enough was very small, one fishcake was gone in a couple of bites. The dinners were tasty. I had beef which was tender and easy to cut. He had chicken which again he said was really nice. Just a couple of downsides, service was slow. Despite you check in at the bar thought would be better to order a drink while standing there then sit down? as we sat waiting for quite a while before anyone came to take the drinks order. Then another five mins went by to be told they don't have the drink i ordered. The second thing was it was quite cold in the room I kept my coat on and we found ourselves eating our dinner a bit quicker than usual before it went cold.

Average hotel. Fairly dated.States 4 stars but could hardly give 3 to be fair.I stayed in superior room, not standard and it was spacious , however basic things missing such as toiletries- 4 stars hotels are more generous. Room looked quiet tired and bathroom not practical as no fan. Shower over bath with poor water pressure.Location- quiet , but nothing to do. Expected some walks. Asked receptionist and she didn't have a clue. Not great.Breakfast was average typical buffet. No boiled eggs or normal fried eggs on offer .Overall, 3 stars at most.

My daughter and I stayed for 2 nights in the adjacent picturesque cottages and wished we'd stayed in the main building. The cottage room was tired and the fittings more like hotels you find in Eastern Europe. The cottages are 2 storeys and the upstairs floors creak horribly. You can't sleep at all when people are moving about. Given how close the hotel is to East Midlands Airport that happens very late at night and very early in the morning. Not good. The food was ok: as good as you'd get in any pub nowadays but the menu was very limited. And as others have said, the breakfast is a standard buffet albeit the bacon and sausages were of a better than normal standard. It's such a shame because the initial impressions are very good. It looks great from the outside and is in an idyllic location at the old mill workings on the River Trent. It's been taken over recently and hopefully with a bit of investment it can become the go to location in the area. It has so much potential.

The staff were helpful and friendly. The room and bed were a good size. Took a while to work the lights out but got there in the end. Comfy bed. Very quiet location could hear the race cars and babbling brook outside but nothing once in the room. I was an upstairs room in the cottages opposite the hotel so can't offer any thoughts on the hotel itself. Taxi to the hotel came no problem and was 10mins to the airport at 4am.

We spent our anniversary here for one night. The location is beautiful and so peaceful. The room was clean and the bed very comfortable, a good size room and bathroom. The hospitality tray was rather limited. We were told that Sunday roast would be available in the evening but disappointingly it wasn'tTherefore, we thought the food menu was short of choices and not a very good menu for such a lovely hotel. The food portions were small and puddings obviously frozen. The breakfast was okay, buffet style hot and cold I prefer a chef who cooks to order but that's just my preference. Not sure I would stay again.

The venue is absolutely stunning with the river to the front and side of the venue. The water wheel is a fabulous piece of history. The building is absolutely beautiful. The interior is sympathetic to the appearance of the whole venue. The food is exquisite. The afternoon tea is fabulous. We were advised by a very experienced chef the meal contents and the fruit had been freshly taken from the venues fruit garden. The venue is immaculate, exceptionally clean, and the prices are more than affordable. The staff are outstanding well groomed and courteous. There are venue rooms available to hire for events, including weddings. Every guest is treated to a one to one service and

The location was less than 10 minutes taxi ride from East Midlands Airport. The building and surrounding area is absolutely beautiful and in a very quiet spot. The service in the bar/restaurant were very good and the food was excellent. Our room was lovely and clean with all mod cons. A very comfortable bed, and great shower to wake is up at 3am for our flight.I would definitely recommend this hotel for visiting.
