Definitely an undiscovered part of East Sussex. Lovely cakes, coffee, scones. Friendly staff, lovely walks around the lake & grounds.

Great sandwiches on lovely bread. The wasps were a bit annoying. But always a problem at this time of year.

I am very disappointed to discover your little pots of clotted cream are now 28g instead of 40g. This makes a massive difference to the enjoyment of the scone. I appreciate that prices have to go up but to reduce quantities as well is a double blow to customers.

Delicious food in a lovely setting. The service unfortunately is sadly lacking and needs to be addressed. It feels very disorganised with a long wait (+40 minutes today) for a slice of cake and a coffee. Some very simple changes would make a big difference i.e. a map of the outside table numbers at the checkout as the staff are very focused on table numbers.A can of Raid to get the wasps under control!

This place has a serious wasp problem. I have never seen so many indoors and as some of the food is uncovered there were wasps crawling over some food items. The indoor tables were surrounded by them and I couldn't see anything being done to mitigate the problem. We ate a tasty meal outside but there again there were wasps everywhere - more understandable outside but still unpleasant. It's a shame as the food was nice but the wasps turned the cafe into a curate's egg.

Food to die for in a historic setting. Just opened and they are finding their feet so be patient at busy times. Well worth the wait for local sourced menu and stunning bakery

Fantastic scones. Both the cheese and plain are remarkable. My one complaint is that it can be difficult to get a table indoors and sometimes the water glasses appear dirty but scones are great

The food is home made and very good. the scones are amazing - large, moist, fresh, tasty and they come with things such as generous amounts of clotted cream, jam, chutney, chunks of cheddar and butter. The Orangery building is a different venue from most other places. The staff are mostly 'volunteers' from different countries so patience and understanding is required sometimes when ordering as English frequently isn't their first language. Beautiful grounds.

Aside from the exceptional setting and pride in their quality ingredients and product; what stood out for me is that we were still there just after 4pm, finishing our tea and were not pushed away at all. Instead the staff all sat down at the end of the day to enjoy coffee and a slice of cake themselves. This is how you treat your staff and set an example for teamwork - it shows in their service and the best reason to return.
