AVOID AVOID AVOID .Do not leave or trust any item of or silverware with Mr O, 'Brien .Two completely wrong valuations on one diamond ring. One done nearly 40years ago and one now. Don't believe or put your trust in these people here.Made to feel very uncomfortable and as if the wool was being pulled over my eyes.The valuation in here was £3350 in 1992 then he said it was worth £2700 to buy now from me in cash if I wanted. Went to get a coffee went back and he said he got it wrong only worth £1000.Promptly took to another jewellers and valued at £9500. !!Also valued silver for my parents 1992 at £1200.Valued today only worth £150!!!!! The place today said Hammonds must have thought it was solid silver when it was only silver plated. Feel sorry for my parents trusting this place ie Mr O'brien. Avoid avoid avoid.

Took a watch into them for a battery change. First I was told the one battery was £12.50. And then once the job was done within five minutes it suddenly changed to £15. Seems a very pricey place, I also have another watch and two rings in need of repair, but I think ill get some other quotes first.

I honestly would not go anywhere else but Hammonds. A proper jewellers! Genuine honest jewellers with a view to help you find the ring that suits you and your personality. I went here with my boyfriend on Wednesday and the gentleman was so kind and gave me all the advice I needed and answered all my questions no matter how stupid they sounded. He was so so knowledgable with a genuine passion for customer service. Shook both our hands and was able to size me perfectly. I am really excited to see the finished result after it’s cleaned and resized!

The staff here are really friendly and helpful, and did a wonderful job of restoring my silver necklace. Really lovely jewellers with a nice feel to the shop, as a family business this is exactly what we need to keep hold of. To be able to avoid the big chain stores that don't have that personal touch and are always overpriced with low quality, it's important that we support these local businesses, they do such a wonderful job.

Great little independent jewellery shop, we have bought 4 rings from there, 2 custom designed to fit engagement ring.They cleaned the engagement ring to look good as new for our wedding.Will recommend our friends and family if they ever needed it.

Recently bought a rolex online from a London jeweller and wanted a third party to double check it's authenticity. Mike was really knowledgable and was able to tell me a lot about the watch. He gave me peace of mind and an honest opinion of the state of the watch. After a lengthy conversation about the watch and Mike checking the internals, they only charged me for the watch bracelet alteration. Lovely people.
