Great pub/restaurant went there for a family birthday meal. Very good service and good value. The food was excellent I have to say highly recommend.

Enjoyed a well cooked and served gammon fried egg and skin-on chips here on a Wednesday night. Service was very polite and friendly. Restaurant was mostly empty. Decor was good and clean, good choice of beers, lagers and ciders on tap.Quality of food was high and reasonably priced.Will be going again.

One star is for the manager.......Went here for a birthday meal on a Sunday, pre-booked table. Lovely pub inside, arrived early and had a drink at the bar and made them aware that we had arrived but unfortunately when it got to our table booking time there was still no clean tables, even though there was only a couple occupied.The 2 waitresses unfortunately didn't seem to know what was happening and the poor manager was running around trying to do everything himself.Ordered our food, 5 roasts.... 10 minutes later advised that items had been sold out. Not a problem, these things happen.Waited 45 minutes for our food which as its a roast I expect is all prepared and ready to go on a Sunday. And what arrived was very disappointing. The smallest chicken thigh that didn't even provide a mouthful of meat, one tiny carrot, half a florette of broccoli, 4 tiny burnt potatoes, a lump of gravy and a frozen Yorkshire pudding.We did bring this to the attention of the manager as 2 of the guests couldn't actually eat their meals at all, the other 3 ate them as had been waiting so long. He did apologise and seemed gracious that we had brought it to his attention and took those meal off the bill.Overall just really disappointing as the pub is such a lovely building but the food and service just let it down so much.

I visited The Angel recently for the first time with some work colleagues and all of our meals were superb. Nice and freshly made and the best chips I’ve had in a long time. The cookie dough dessert is pretty sizeable so save some room if you’re going for that!

Amazing food, friendly staff. Definitely the best pub in Kelvedon. Me and my husband had a roast dinner and I'm sad to say it was better than my mum's xx

Festive lunch with friends. Staff were so overstretched but served with a smile and tried their very best. Not all food in the party was good but mine was ok. Would love to come back again once the new owners have sorted Staff. Early days, best of luck.

Being a Sunday, we struggled to find somewhere to eat as everywhere needed bookings. This place was our 3rd attempt & what a lovely surprise & so glad we went.The food was delicious & our service was exceptional. We had starters & 2x Roast dinners, the best we've had anywhere by far.The young lad serving us was so attentive & friendly, nothing was too much trouble & made us feel welcome. We stayed longer than we intended & will definitely be going back.

We passed this pub by accident the other day, so on Saturday we came deliberately. We arrived a bit late for lunch but the staff were accommodating & we had a lovely meal of fish & chips & beef pie. Both meals were very tasty. The wine was very nice and the pub had a good atmosphere. I'm looking forward to coming back in the summer & sitting outside.

Yesterday we went to The Angel in Kelvedon for an evening meal with friends. From the time we entered the restaurant we were warmly recieved. The atmosphere was good and the service exceptional especially our server Dan.The meal was very good, well presented, and most enjoyable. The mash was very buttery and smooth, unlike some other restaurant we have eaten in.Definitely a place to go for a good meal and at a reasonable price.
