Bedroom very basic. Unable to turn the shower off completely in the morning. And it was leaking on the floor. Unable to open window in the bathroom. Overflow to the sink was disgusting and very grime.Absolutely disgusting cost for a bottle of water £5. It's a basic human right to drink.

My wife and I got married at Gorse Hill in 2021, and we return each year for our wedding anniversary. Gorse Hill is such a beautiful place with a chance to relax in the gardens, especially when the weather is good. Dinner was lovely, I had the half roast chicken, and my wife had the korean beef, both cooked perfectly. The service was great, and we feel the staff always go above and beyond with their service. We plan to return next September (we only visit once a year as we live some distance from Woking), and we are already looking forward to it. I highly recommend Gorse Hill.

We had our wedding at Gorse Hill and cannot recommend it highly enough as a wedding venue. One of the things we loved most about Gorse Hill is that it’s a beautiful venue surrounded by trees and in such a quiet, secluded location.We had our ceremony, wedding breakfast and evening reception in the Garden Suite. This is a separate building to the main hotel which has a marquee outside and a dance floor, which our guests loved! The grounds are also really well looked after which gave us loads of photo opportunities with our photographer. Last but not least, the food at our wedding breakfast tasted absolutely incredible and we had so many compliments from our guests about it.From the start, the team have been such a pleasure to work with and made organising our day as straightforward as possible. We’d also like to make special mention of two members of staff for going above and beyond.Belinda was our events manager and helped us to plan our day start to finish. She is really organised and has a brilliant attention to detail. Nothing was ever too much trouble and emails were always answered very quickly, making planning as easy as possible. We also really liked how Belinda tailored our day to exactly what we wanted which made it feel unique and special just to us. We know a lot of hard work would have gone on behind the scenes, so a big thank you for everything!After our wedding ceremony, Scott then took over and managed the running of the rest of the day. Scott was very calm and organised, working hard in the background to ensure everything ran smoothly. He was always quickly available if we needed anything and we really liked how quickly and efficiently he managed everything.We had the most amazing day so we’d like to end by saying a huge thank you to everyone at Gorse Hill for making our wedding so special and memorable!

Wow! What a lovely venue! I am a Surrey wedding photographer, I have had the pleasure of photographing numerous weddings at gorse hill! The staff are incredibly accommodating and friendly and the venue itself is gorgeous and has so many picturesque spots.Definitely a special place to get married !

Myself and my husband had the best time here . We stayed for 1 night and it couldn't have been better. The ambience was chilled and relaxed. The food was so tasty and amazing. The staff were so friendly and accommodating. Tom from the bar area gave us great info about the building & was very helpful throughout dinner too. We will definitely return. Many thanks!

Wedding at GorseWhen we first met Andrea, it was due to her passion and friendly demeanour that the venue was sold to us. Unfortunately for us, shortly after we made our reservation, Belinda took over Andrea's duties as the wedding coordinator at Gorse Hill. Because Belinda was so difficult to deal with, planning our big day was much more stressful than it needed to be. We probably wouldn't have reserved the location if we had known Andrea was leaving; her replacement wasn't an especially pleasant person to work with.The day itself was stunning and the hotel personnel on the day (especially Jake & Lucy) helped make the day amazing, this was because we worked really hard to manage the day and handled the most of the suppliers ourselves, with little assistance from the venue.We were never given the opportunity to rehearse at the location, as like most things, this was not discussed prior to the day. Looking back, it appears that very little in the way of specifics was actually discussed. When we did ask questions, initially it was responded with “we don’t do that” then it turned into “I’ll have to check with my manager”. In fact one of the challenges we were met with on the day was that our dogs not being allowed through the kitchen during the ceremony. Why was this procedure for an indoor ceremony not disclosed to us? Finding a solution was then met with resistance and because it was our wedding day, it was upsetting to be in the dark about what was happening.The food that day was excellent and far superior to what it was on the day of the menu tasting.The venue also let us know that our visitors may book rooms at a special discounted rate. However, many of our visitors have told us that the hotel's website had lower accommodation rates when they visited closer to the ceremony. Some guests even decided to cancel their original bookings and make new reservations at cheaper rates. This was rip off time !

The grounds are good, with a separate venue for weddings. The rooms featured some mould in the bathrooms and worn furniture and carpets. The worst, though, was the mattress which was very soft and had collapsed across its width across the upper back making for an uncomfortable sleep.There are no views to speak of from the rooms, just the courtyard which is a car park.Food was good but not the best we have had for the price and service suffered from staff being required at the wedding.Would check out other venues before returning.
