Fantastic place well run, and the staff are friendly and helpful.

ONE TO AVOID. I use lots of auction houses, and as a rule pay between 20% and 26% on the total bill. However Lithgow charge VAT on the hammer price which is 20% then Auction fees which is 19% and then VAT on the auction fees which brings the total to around 42%.They have no clear T&C`s on there website which explain this and neither was it clear on the Saleroom.. Then I find out they do not even pack and post..

Its not the price of things you may purchase and if lucky you may find a bargain that is if no one else kown its worth. The thing is the buyers premium is extortion 18% plus Vat on top the buyers premium.Then if the item has Vat on it * thats around £138 for a £100 bid. Compare this to the buyers premium at the likes of York Auction & Thirsk where it is around 5% for buyers it is really shocking as the seller has to pay to sell their item also.Plus you have to test anything electrical or it will probably not work as the tested label is only there to say you will not get a shock if plugged in.One last thing the auctioneers treat you like children even if you whisper to a friend they treat you like a school child.But thats my opinion and if you are going for the bigger items go late as they sell all the little things first. Another grievance is they will put something decent in with a box of c--p just to sell it off.The best auction from this place are when they are selling off whole businesses or workshops etc. The rest especially tools you are taking a chance if it is petrol or electric so test it first which means you have to go early or they will not allow it. Better auctions out there as I mentioned above...!One more thing is they are an auction house and if they do not get what they want in the price, even if it has no reserve they will not sell it. Like cars they thing they should be getting auto trader prices for them and you cannot even test them or inspect them...?

Lots of stuff going cheap apart from the thing I want

I deal with about 30 different auction houses and I won't go anywhere near this lot again. I queried an invoice and was immediately told I would be pursued through the legal system if I didn't pay. The staff are rude and confrontational and the management if anything is worse. There are far better options around.

Love this place great deals to be had

Been in storage for many years. Lithgow's have been very good and I would recommend them.

Great selection of items at very reasonable prices. Great staff who are very helpful.

Cant beat the thrill of the auction and the staff a great really friendly
