Cat & Mouse

Approached the shop with my mother and someone was in the doorway speaking to the lady behind the till, so patiently waited for her to move, she seemed annoyed that she had to stop mid conversation to let us in (we didn't want to barge past her, especially with social distancing) she then rolled her eyes when my mother was trying to put on her mask before entering the premises. As we were looking around the shop she made some very loud observations about tourists and not using the handsanitiser (we carry our own and had already applied it) which I assume the comments were directed at us? Overall very rude, and looking at previous comments it doesn't look like an isolated incident. The only reason I stayed and purchased something was because the lady behind the till wasn't the one being rude, but I'd have thought her friend would have driven her other customers away since the shop was empty.

Lovely little charming shop. Shop owner is very well respected by locals for her kindness and generosity on supporting charities.Many locals are elders and vulnerable. I don’t see any problem that the owner is asking visitors to strictly follow the covid sanitisation rules.

Beautiful Mousehole.... lovely friendly shop owners everywhere except the Cat&Mouse!I was looking at mugs to buy for presents and I heard a voice ' oh look she's arranging our shelf'.....I then realised the throw away comment was aimed at me. Extremely rude and terrible attitude.After reading others comments , i thought I'd share mine with you.I'm not one to complain but it really was awful. I don't know how the shop has survived!

Situated in a quaint little harbour with old, picturesque stone houses. Shop filled with things for tourists and the staff unfriendly and unwelcoming. Not a smile to be had and stamps only sold if purchasing other items.

Lovely shop stocked with very nice gifts, mostly affordable some ridiculously overpriced... £49 for tarnished silver earrings that look like they've been hanging on the stand for years. The real problem with this shop is the staff... never a response to a good morning/good afternoon and no please or thank you either. Charming shop, charming location spoilt by charmless staff.

Lovely quaint little shop and cute trinkets and postcards and pretty much all the little bits and pieces you'd want. They had lots of versions of Mousehole Cat, and some gorgeous postcards of the art. Very cute shop!

Awful and Rude! Requested I show my exemption card as I am exempt from wearing a mask. I told her that I legally don't have to produce one and she said that I do. This is utter rubbish. I refer the shop owner to look at the government guidelines so that others with exemptions do not feel discriminated against. She was disrespectful, not polite in the slightest and rude. Looking after other reviews she seems to have some issues and poor customer service. It's such a shame as was prepared to spend a fair bit in the shop but I will never re enter. I will also make sure that others know of her behaviour.

A good selection of local items as well as books, stopped by and was pleasantly surprised. It’s dog friendly and not overpriced at all. They have stopped taking cash so it’s card only which was a shame as the children had pocket money to spend but we worked around that.

Visited the cat and mouse as in Mousehole for the day. Upon entering the store I hada facemask on and was instantly ordered to use the hand sanitiser by the owner/staff member. As I had used my own just before entering the store I informed her of this and before I had the chance to say anything else was verbally launched at by this person and was aggressively told to use the hand sanitiser or leave the store. So I decided to leave the shop and was shouted at by this person as I left. Having read some other reviews this is not an isolated incident and has happened on numerous occasions. Therefore my advice to anyone visiting here to be prepared to be verbally attacked upon entering the store by a demented person who has obvious mental health problems.

Beautiful little shop in an idyllic setting with lots of nice items. We were there in August 2021 and were happy to wear masks and use the conveniently placed hand sanitiser. The lady who I presumed was the owner was very patient with me as i changed my mind several times over which Christmas tree ornaments to buy.
