When I went for my consultation and skin patch test I explained to the stylist exactly what I wanted, which was a natural mid brown colour at the roots to cover greys and add shine, colour depth and vibrance, and a lighter colour at the ends, as well as a trim. This is what I always have done at my usual salon and am charged approximately £100 inclusive. At the consultation I discussed whether I should have a permanent or semi permanent colour at the roots/top of head and he advised semi-permanent to reduce obvious regrowth.I was advised that they would use a balayage style colour technique and quoted approximately £130. This is more than I usually pay but as I am going on holiday soon and am pressed for time I didn’t mind paying more than usual. I was surprised to hear that the whole cut and colour would take four hours.On the day, a young stylist applied my colour first and had obviously not read my notes or spoken to the guy who did the consultation as he only applied the lighter colour and forgot to do the roots. As we were busy chatting I also totally forgot until he started rinsing off the colour and asked if I wanted a toner. I kept advising I didn’t know what a toner did and had no idea what the terminology that he used meant in real terms - saying “it will neutralise the colour” meant nothing to me. I then pointed out he’d forgotten to colour my roots. He said I didn’t need it as I don’t have much grey. I’m 45 and don’t have much grey but in a close up mirror can see quite a few and they obviously make the hair look duller overall, even if my hair doesn’t look fully grey. So he applied the semi permanent in a rush and then my hair was cut and styled. I was in there for four hours and forty five minutes! Usually a cut and colour takes 2.5 hours absolute maximum. The big sting was the price. I was quoted £130 but when I went to pay was charged £188. I was gobsmacked that they’d added an extra £58! I stated I’d been quoted much less and the receptionist spoke to the stylist, came back, apologised but said there was nothing they could do and tried to attribute the extra cost to the semi permanent colour at my scalp which they’d said I didn’t need (because they’d forgotten to do it and obviously didn’t want to add on the extra time and affect later bookings). I stated very clearly that my main reason for booking was to colour the roots and have a trim and usually just have lighter at the ends not a full balayage. Even during consultation the stylist said a balayage, semi permanent and trim could would cost £130. So their excuse was shocking and unacceptable. I paid begrudgingly and left feeling furious. When I got home they called to apologise and tried to offer me a complimentary conditioning treatment when I next get my hair cut. I laughed and said there won’t be a next cut as I’m obviously never going back. The stylist was very pleasant in that he was apologetic and said they’d love to have me back but no refund was offered on misquoting me. If I’d have known they’d charge almost double what I usually pay at my regular salon I wouldn’t have booked. Nice people but I feel robbed and I’d recommend anyone using this salon to proceed with caution and get any quotes in writing. I am aware quotes are generally an estimate but sixty pounds extra on top of the quote is a joke. Disgusted.

We had such a brilliant experience at Claus and Co. My 8 year old daughter needed an urgent cut after unevenly chopping off her hair and the staff kindly fit us in during a busy day. They were all so lovely to her and the results were amazing, her hair looks the best it has ever looked, and she is delighted and we will definitely be returning. Thank you so much for turning a stressful situation into such a positive experience.

I’ve been a customer of Claus and Co for some years now and always found the staff to be amicable and really friendly, let alone always professional.I’m not one for leaving reviews but Claire, Caroline and Alex excelled theirselves colouring and cutting/styling my hair on 5 June. Colour was spot on, Claire did an amazing job as did Caroline who assisted. Proper team work and they could give any major salon up west a run for their money.Round of applause to you all xxx
