Nice clean home, staff are friendly and helpful. Highly recommended

There came a time when my wife's mother was unable to look after herself and we had to find a care home. We were recommended Winchester house by a friend. We went to see the care home and were made to feel welcome from the start.Mother settled in very quickly as she was so cared for straight away as it's like a home from home. The food is lovely, Home style cooking. The staff are wonderful, so caring and always on hand for any of their needs. The home is well run. They have meetings with the residents and the family's to discuss any problems involved with the running of the home.My wife and I would have no problems recommending Winchester house. It's a very lovely care home.

I would highly recommend Winchester House. It is such a homely" home and visitors are always made to feel welcome as well as the residents being made to feel truly at home. The care my aunt received was excellent really couldn't have been any better. During her time there my aunt was diagnosed with terminal cancer and received her end of life care and passed away at Winchester House. The staff not only cared for my aunt they supported me and my family too. I will be forever grateful to them."

We were very impressed from the outset at the way Winchester cared for complex needs of a couple with Alzheimers and dementia, requiring individual, but totally differing needs. If Leonard woke up in the early hours, he was never left alone, even if it did mean he had two breakfasts, one early and one later in the morning! He was soon eating well, and during his illness was always given such care and attention. He was treated with great dignity and good humour. During his last illness, in the middle of Covid, every effort was made to ensure the level of care and comfort that he received remained high. As a family we felt that we too were valued at this very difficult time. We even had a carer accompany his wife to the funeral, so that she and the family felt fully supported.Bess continues to remain at Winchester. She loves her room, which looks out across the back garden, and has remained cool enough, even during a heatwave. She is feisty, intelligent and also has a sense of humour. She has such a good relationship with all the carers. When she feels confused and distracted they always contact us and let us know exactly how she is feeling. This communication is so vital. We can ring at any time, and no matter who answers the phone, they always know exactly how she is. Whenever we take her out to visit home, or a local café, she is well dressed and ready when we pick her up. Despite the restrictions of Covid, we were always allowed to visit wherever possible, and remain confident that she has the best of care and the right type of support whenever she needs it.Winchester have always gone the extra mile to make us feel that both of them were part of their ‘family’. We never feel awkward about obtaining any information, or visiting.When considering a care home we were advised that small homes with a fewer number of residents were ‘like goldust’. That advice was absolutely right.

So, after being called in to renew flooring in this care home & subsequently maintain & upgrade various items, i was pleasantly surprised to see that the level of care, is in my opinion, second to none. I work for a lot of care homes & find THIS one, is constantly striving to move forward in all capacities. It truly is a home-like environment, happy staff & happy clients, which was really refreshing to see.

This is a lovely home. The staff are so helpful, polite and caring. Beautiful gardens, fish pond and well presented parking area. I would recommend Winchester House and its professional staff to anyone.

My mum was lucky to get a room in Winchester house , in June 2023 , she has now been there for 9 weeks , I am so happy with the choice that I made , lovely home from home approach , fantastic staff who really care about the residents needs and are delighted to see family members when you visitBeautiful garden view from the day room , and a fine big bedroomMy mum is happy in her surroundings , so I don't feel bad when it is time for me leaveI would happily recommend Winchester House to anyone if they needed help looking for a choice of Residence

Mum entered this lovely care home in November 2022 as she now requires 24hour care .It was a very hard decision to make but from the first visit I was struck by how welcoming, small and homely Winchester House is.I was worried mum would not settle as she didn’t want to leave her own home but everyone of the staff have gone above and beyond welcoming her and getting to know her so she feels safe and cared for.The staff do a wonderful job reassuring her and her care is given with a smile, kindness and warmth.She has been here 12 weeks now and enjoys the views of the lovely garden from her room and has started to chat to other residents after the regular sing a long sessions. I visit often and am always made welcome but feel safe in the knowledge that when I am not with her she is receiving the best of care.
