The glamorous times of this hotel are definitely over. Had to change the room twice as it was dirty. Even the 3rd room did not meet our expectations. The beds are bad and room cleaning was skipped one day (priority had the rooms of the departing guests). Clearly my worst Marriott experience after several hundred nights at Marriott. At least the staff has been friendly and forthcoming.

Great hotel. Location close to Edinburgh Castle and Royal Mile, about a 10 minute walk. Only downside is no air conditioning in rooms. Fans in room provide some relief. It would be a difficult stay in summer months. Staff are very friendly and accommodating.

Location was good. Short walk up the hill to the Royal Mile and Edinburgh castle. Breakfast is in lobby. They need more space as it was vey crowded. Breakfast choices were fine hot and cold. Room overlooks apartment buildings so make sure you close your blinds. Spacious bathroom. self serve washer and dryer are convenient.

Pros: very close to old town and the university, breakfast was lovely and convenient, the staff was professional and helpful.Cons: we stayed here twice in two different rooms during Fringe. Both times the beds were clearly very old and very small. In our second stay, the full sized bed was on wheels and would not stay still if anyone in the bed moved. The wheels could not be locked and it was not possible for two people to sleep on the bed. My husband had to sleep on an extremely filthy sofa in the living room area. As we paid nearly 300 GBP for a room that was not usable for sleeping, we requested a refund or a rate reduction which was not honored.I do not recommend staying here unless you are traveling alone or briefly.

The room had no air conditioning, there was no water strip to prevent water from coming out of the shower, and our sink was very slow to drain. However, the customer service with the front desk was incredible. They brought us a HUGE fan. The windows opened enough where we could open them when we got there and the room was cooled off by bedtime. The breakfast was good, not very expansive, but the food was nice and the coffee was great. The laundrette was free, but you need your own soap. The dryers took forever, but they cleaned our clothes nicely. It is a bit further away from all of the sights to see. The customer service of this hotel was the saving grace of this hotel. I would stay here again, just not in summer.

Great and solid place. Had a queen sized bed and the room itself was spacious that came with a kitchen which I wasn’t expecting. Would def recommend if you’re visiting Edinburgh longer term. Stayed for 4 nights and was perfect for what I needed

I like the location because it is quite spot although there are closer options to the city center. Some staff in the reception are so friendly and helpful like Cormac" and "Marga". Others are below average. Breakfast is limited but I believe sufficient to get started in the day. The room and bath are small."

Thank you so much for the kind arrangement. Despite during the super busy festival season, Residence Inn managed to arrange my two rooms on the same floor. To my surprise, they prepared breakfast bags for us due to our early departure to the airport. That was a very warm touch. The hotel management made you feel welcomed and being taken care of. Running by a group of enthusiastic personnel, with a smile on their faces, I wish Residence Inn Edinburgh a big success.

The breakfast needs black pudding.There is a permanent humming noise in my room from a nearby loo.I can't go on the balcony.However the beds are very comfy, the rooms very good and dark, and it's a set up which has everything you could possibly need.Oh; the coffee machine at breakfast was a bit of a let down.
