Pevensey Castle

Really interesting history from Roman to Modern day. Great for families. Parking available. Lovely town with lots to see. Nice pubs too.

Pricey like all English heritage sites, but really nice. The audio tour was creative but too verbose and ultimately not worth the time. I'd prefer seeing more information panels like the nice ones on display.

Visited as I just had gotten an english heritage membership. Lovely castle with a free audio guide that was very informative. And the views out standing on the walls/tower is beautiful

Great afternoon out. This place has a fascinating history from Roman fort to William the conqueror’s first digs in England to WW2 defences. Well laid out with an informative (and happily concise) audio guide. Well signposted and offers great views of the surrounding countryside.Even if you don’t pay to go inside and see the exhibits (I think it’s worth it) you can walk by and enjoy the exterior.The woman in charge of the site has lots of info to share, not just on the castle but on other English Heritage sores in the area should you wish to sign up

Absolutely beautiful day out. Lots of information to read. Lots of nooks to explore within the castle with lovely, kind, and knowledgeable staff. Beautiful views of the surrounding area. There are lots of steps leading to different areas as is to be expected. We brought our own lunch and there's lots of benches around to sit down. There's also a car park that's free to English Heritage members, and toilets with accessible cubicles next to the car park that were clean.

A fantastic example of Roman building skills. The site is much larger than I expected, with more inside, including two exhibition rooms and access to the dungeon rooms.If you're close, it's worth popping in for a visit.

Pevensey Castle, a place with history back to 290 AD, when the Romans built it, to World War 2. It's well worth a visit. You can walk inside the outer ring for free, but if you want to see the inner court and remains, the small exhibition, you have to pay, but i think the price is okay for what you're getting. There's even an old dungeon. Very friendly and helpful staff. Outside there's a tea room and there are also two pubs with nice beer gardens along the high street.

Great morning spent in the castle. Lots to see and do. Great car park next door which allows motorhomes- 3 dedicated spaces. £3 all day. Well done Pevensey Town Trust
