We Love buttermere. The location & service is very nice. The staffs are very friendly and the breakfast is best among all the yha. The room and beds is not great clean compared to other Yha. It’s bit dusty & spider nets. The parking is bit tricky. However, it’s a great place to stay

Wonderful 4 nights. The location is stunning, super clean and warm, great food. But it's the staff that made it special. So charming, dedicated and hard working. Will def go back

My girlfriend and I camped in the grounds a couple of weeks ago for 4 nights - stunning location in the best part of the lakes. The facilities were clean and well maintained and the staff were world class. They went above and beyond by offering me and my girlfriend a room for the night (free of charge!) and let me dry my tent off in the drying room on our last night because the weather was going to be horrendous! Really appreciated and thank you again. Looking forward to stopping here again soon :)

We stayed in a Land Pod while travelling with our dog. Comfy, cosy, lots of space. The food at the YHA was hearty and simple, good veggie options. Excellent all you can eat breakfast. Staff all friendly, helpful, and welcoming.

This is one of the best hostels that I have stayed at. A lovely character building in an outstanding location, convenient short walk from lake and village. Decent sized car park. Well laid out, with good sized bedrooms and thoughtfully laid out showers. Little bench as well as hooks for clothes / towels. Lovely comfortable common room with lovely view and collection of both books and young children's toys. Evening meal was excellent, all the staff where outstanding - helpful and friendly. Everything was clean, warm and in good repair. It's obviously looked after by people who really care.Autism friendly without needing to explain. Perfect. We look forward to returning for a longer visit next time.

Really nice well positioned youth hostel in a beautiful area of the Lakes with great fell and lake walks in all directions. We stayed there on a private hire basis. It was good to see that the YHA has now reopened the self catering kitchens.

Have stopped here for many years and it’s been great, but unfortunately this stay a member of staff took the edge off our visit. Very abrupt and bad mannered. Sorry YHA but set hosteling back years. The manager spot on as was the rest of the staff but this member of the team needs a bit of Customer Service training.
