Every persons experience will be different due to whether you’re a patient or a visitor. Two key issues and these are nothing to do with the hospital staff and the great work they do, but rather the facilities, as with all things parking is a big issue, there are multiple multi stories, the car park by the old hospital has a large section dedicated to just disabled badge holders and so actually is limited in space for other drivers. Car park A is the closest to the entrance and is under cover as well as a open air area, if you are a visitor and are planning on more than two visits in a week then get the all week pass for £20, this allows you to go in and out of the car parks on the hospital grounds so if you enter and there are no spaces available you can leave it without charge and try one of the others. And then there is the smoking, there appears to be no major effort to stop everyone from just smoking directly outside the entrance to the hospital, there were smoking shelters which have been reduced down to just one and there were signs to ask people to only smoke in the shelters but we got the distinct impression that this was an exercise in futility from the desk staff. Entering a hospital with a young child and having to walk through a bank of smoke is very bad and I would hope the hospital and take measures to change this.

The hospital itself is very nice, especially with the new wing. The staff seem nice and they do what they can, however they are not always able to attend to the patients. Although they are busy, they do try their best, but I feel that they can do a bit better. Overall, the hospital can support any type of injury / disability and it is very well maintained.

In my opinion it’s the best hospital in Birmingham and I really hope that it doesn’t go down like the other ones have. Good Hope and Heartlands are a disgrace. The QE has experienced, welcoming and dedicated staff. Long may it continue x

Good amount of parking. Staff in all the cafés and shops have been polite each time we've been. Support staff in reception are very helpful and always polite. My father passed away here in November and the staff were very suportive and kept our family informed throughout it all. We attended the hospital many times with Dad and never had a negative experience.
