Very thorough and does a good job.. Very busy so don't expect work to be done immediately.

I made the mistake of getting this guy to look at my car when it was running poorly instead of going to my usual garage that was fully booked. He gave me the car back two days later, waffled on about a lot of things that he didn't think was causing the problem with my car but didn't actually tell me what the problem definitely was. He also charged me £174 for that privilege! He even had the audacity to tell me I should go back to him if the car continues to play up and then he might be able to work out what the problem is. So that he could charge me another £174 to tell me a lot of things that aren't causing the problem? I dread to think how much he would have charged me had he fitted any parts. I took my car to my usual garage afterwards (Bursledon Motors) and they diagnosed the problem and fixed my car the same day for £189. I wanted to try and give Neil at Cawte Garage some credit for the work he had done (and convince myself I hadn't been ripped off) so I showed them the invoice and the description of the tests he did and asked them if this had been any help with them establishing what the problem with my car was. They said it hadn't and they would have diagnosed the problen irrespective of the tests he did. My car has been running fine ever since. Neil at Cawte Garage calls himself a Mercedes specialist but I find that hard to believe. There are lots of words that spring to mind when I think of Neil but specialist" is not one of them. Today I completed the replacement of the expansion tank and hose here. It was an excellent job and was very efficient. They also gave me maintenance suggestions for the engine mount. They did a fantastic job at Cawte Garage, almost felt like a different car when we drove away after having some work done here. The cost was a little higher than we had anticipated but they do say you get what you pay for" and their work was faultless. Would definitely recommend them
