Tasty Plaice

We had delivery whilst staying down at family's, chips weren't fresh and had a reheated , stale taste about them. Soggy battered sausage and curry sauce was tasteless and watery. Only positives were it was quick and delivered, although they weren't willing to deliver to front door and wanted us to meet them-block of flats.

Health and Safety covid review - No hand sanitiser for customers on display. Once customers have placed their order they are asked to wait out side the shop in all weather conditions.Waiting times between 15 to 40 minutes.Staff wearing face masks but no catering gloves or washing hands been visible at any time of this visit.Pay by cash only at time of ordering.Perspex shield at serving location.No markings on floor for customers guide to social distancing. Two bench seats available but without covid distance restrictions in place.Four small signs on wall giving covid advice.Wheelchair entry to standard door entrance.Free parking across the road in Council Car Park which includes two disabled parking spaces. Controlled traffic crossing from car park to shop location.Bus stop available right out side the chip shop.No local toilets available in location near this chip shop.Quality of food review- Cod placed in same chip bag, not wrapped separately from hot greasy chips.At home cod soggy and broken up. Pea fritter tasteless in thick batter. Pickle onion tough to cut and tastes strange.Chips cooked to chip shop standardHygiene certification not on display.

The food is great. Chips are tasty and the cod is good with crispy batter. I try not to get a chippy tea too often but when I do I come here.Great stuffEdit: the place has recently been taken over but IMHO it's still a top chippie to visit. The chips are good, the cod I had last night was really tasty, crispy where it counts, soft and tender where it needed to be.Great stuff.

This outlet has now changed hands so this review not relevant The fish is cooked while you wait and therefore tastes fresh and delicious. The chips are some of the best in Southampton. All at pretty reasonable prices.

Revied 6 years ago: 5* Best fish and chips in Southampton.Today's review: Used to be the best fish and chips in Southampton, today's delivery was late, cold and the batter on the fish was thin and soggy. Fish and batter are now the same quality as a supermarket. Massive shame and ill be visiting in person to complain. Been a patron since 2016 and unless they bring back the quality this will be the last time.

Hi,Im very disgusted and unhappy with chips whitch I buying in this restaurant Tasty Plaice" because chips was discusting and chorrible ! I paying more than £10 for two portion and I think that was waiting of money ! Im not recommend this restaurant for noone..."

I've been having food from there for 20 yrs.It's recently changed hands and the portion size has gone ridiculously small.I'd ordered Haddock and it was tiny, I've given bigger scraps to the cat.I know fish prices have gone up, but should've given the customer the choice of paying more or getting a sprat.Will be getting my food elsewhere from now on, its a real shame

We did not like the chips at all they tasted warmed up as may have been left from lunch time they were not nice at all !

I ordered a cheese burger with mushrooms it was meant to have salad and ketchup but that wasn't there and there was only 4 little pieces of mushroom.not good

An occasional happening ,food to eat by the Shore as it was a lovely evening ...Ordered A hot dog for my Grandson, Large sausage in batter cheesy chips ,.and cod n chips with salt and vinegar .I specifically asked for it .Good as the food was ,there was no salt n vinegar at all ,no sachets or napkins in the bag !! ,the hot dog was actually 2 pork sausages in a bap Disappointing for an 8 year old expecting a proper hot dog !! ,all came boxed and bagged so never knew till you were away with it ,no offer of sauce ,and the large sausage n batter was 2 small ones ,I think they should have communicated these changes, was disappointing after looking forward to it all , spoilt a spontaneous little event ,won't be returning on that basis ..
