Houdini's Escape Room Experience - Bristol

Did the temple raider room. Was good puzzles and fun ideas, very creative!Only pointer: some of our team struggled to get up after kneeling and we had a time limit in that room, made it very stressful to the people.

Not great. Really basic room. Some of the puzzles were broken and did not work so you could just open locked units. Told this at the start by host. All the things that did work were controlled outside the room by the host watching through the camera so nothing in the room actually triggered anything. Luckily paid on an offer and took five children so they did not realise how poor it was in comparison to other rooms that I have done. They said they would text the final picture through. Never got it. Would not go back. If I had paid full price would have asked for a refund.

We did the Houdini's Last escape and it was one of the most fun I've had in an escape room. Ellen started us on the room and then Skai took over. We really appreciated that the clues weren't straight forward enough that we were just given the answer and we're definitely gonna try more of them out in the future

This review is for the Houdini room. I’ve enjoyed many of the escape rooms in Bristol and booked this for my sons 10th birthday event as it was one we hadn’t tried before. After a promising start, (a warm welcome and interesting scene setting) it soon became apparent that this was a low quality setup. Although we were told the puzzles were “non-linear”, there was an obvious starting puzzle. Unfortunately the props required were very imprecise (in this case some dials were too loose and wouldn’t remain at the required setting). Despite this, the puzzle resolved which indicated that it was controlled remotely by someone watching on CCTV when the dials were broadly at the correct settings rather than by any triggers within the props themselves. This low quality theme continued throughout the session (we were even warned at the outset that one of the props were broken and that a staff member would come in the room and hand us a clue because the puzzle that should have contained it didn’t work properly). Another prop had parts of a shape worn out or lost and the missing bits had been filled in (imprecisely) with a sharpie. This meant some clues had to be guessed rather than solved and contributed to a lack of any satisfaction or sense of achievement at completing a puzzle. As a result, the kids disengaged from the puzzles fairly early in the session. There is another room with a different theme at this location but based on our experience with Houdini, I’m not going to rush back.

Brilliant escape room! We recently did the Temple Raider escape room au Houdini’s and absolutely loved it! The range of puzzles was fantastic and the room felt like a real adventure. Best of all the was our Game Master, Peter, who made the experience really come alive. I would highly recommend this room and am keen to try others from the same company.

Really enjoyed a different experience with my daughter. We had a lot of fun and joking around while figuring out all the clues. The Houdini room is full of great spooky props and posters and Lee was a very welcoming games master to us

We arrived at the time they said and the door was locked an no one was there. We had to ask the staff working in the arcade to open the door. The game master was unwelcoming and unfriendly. It was my birthday and she did not seem to engage with us at all. When we entered the room they played a video which was interrupted by loud music which made watching the video difficult. We were all a bit annoyed and then the host made an ill judged joke about them not being able to play the game and we will be offered a refund. When we started the clues were very tenuous and the game master gave us little and unhelpful clues. There were many moments which we were asking for clues and we felt like we were ignored. A lot of the duration of game it felt like the game master wasn’t watching or helping us at the appropriate moments. The clues were so awful and unclear that when our time was up the game master came in to show us how to finnish of our puzzle, she struggled to complete the puzzle on her own. It was a very interesting yet un enjoyable experience. The host didn’t even say happy birthday. Overall it was difficult and run poorly, would not recommend.

Booked this as an end of half term treat, drove from Gloucestsr to visit & no one turned up. Luckily the manager at ten pin had the manager of houdinis number (I think this is a regular occurrence). By ringing them they managed to get a games master to the centre & we started our game about an hour late. Better late than never but it meant we were late for lunch reservation and it wasn't a great start.Theeming is great throughout the rooms and it flows well as an escape room. However, in the last room one of the puzzles was cantankerous & the games master said it didn't always work. They enabled us to bypass this bit as we couldn't get it to work, but if these an integral part that is known to have issues then sort it out.Also make sure you take a torch as it's really dark.Games master was ok but seemed really flat compared to others we've had at other venues.Given a 2 for the theeming, would give minus 2 for customer service if I could. Wouldnt recommend as likelyhood is that won't turn up.

The best escape room we've done so far. Peter our host was very entertaining. Managed to top the leaderboard. Traitors rule!!! The emersion experience was on point.
