We stumbled upon this place on Saturday while looking for a butchers in Durham (easier said than done !) A day earlier we had visited Amble and picked up our seafood supplies.. unfortunatley mostly frozen and 2 oysters ! Very disappointing. In contrast this place had a great range of fresh seafood ( and not a bloody great fridge packed with frozen prawns and scollops etc) We purchased a dozen oysters , the service was with a smile and the oysters were beautiful with bacon. Lesson learned... if you want quality fresh seafood and good service just call at Durham market .

Excellent quality, good knowledgeable staff who will answer all questions and and cut the fish to your preference. I go here all the time and I am never dissapointed with the selection on offer, a must visit for all fish lovers.

Bought some Halibut here when trying a new dish. The service was excellent, friendly and knowledgeable, and I got really beautiful quality fish. I was even asked what I would be making and was advised it was a good choice but also given alternative options for the same dish for future.Super helpful with quality product available.

Bought 1 sea bream, 150 grams of cockles and a bag of clams, cost over £28!!! Asked the price of the cockles and the fish which come in at under £10 so charged over £18 fora bag of clams!I’ll stick to the fish quay in future

Paid £6 for a tablespoonof dressed crab meat. Not crab tasted like a mixture of cheap salmon and a sprinkling of crab meat. I know proper crab having been raised in seaham harbour. Had to throw it away it was disgusting had the same a year ago should have learnt my lesson. Had to give 1star because 0 star wasn't available.

Very good range of fish and excellent quality. A little more pricey than supermarkets as to be expected, but 100% worth it for the freshness and range of produce. Whole fish are filleted in front of you if you wish.

I am always impressed by the wonderful, warm and friendly service offered by Lara and her team at this stall in Durham. I regularly buy the shellfish platter and it never fails to impress. The crab, langoustines, crayfish tails, prawns and mussels are always fresh and delicious. Highly recommended!

Excellent range of freshly caught fish. I got the special for the day which was Cajun marinated white fish fillets with some garlic marinated king prawns included for free. Cooked and eaten as soon as I got home, delicious
