The food and especially the gluten free options here were fabulous. I had finished my hearty gluten free French toast and bacon before my partners pancakes arrived.The 1 toilet for everyones use was dreadful. It needed a good clean as did the floor in the seating area of the cafe and the untidy kitchen.There were 4 members of staff in the cafe and it wasn't overly busy. I'm sure one of them could have cleaned this cafe that sells from such a lovely varied menu.

The chilli chicken crepe was very nice however it was brought out long before any of the other food which shouldn’t happen. If you’re wanting a quiet meal this isn’t the correct choice as it is very popular with kids which makes it a loud and messy environment.

I do not recommend. We wanted to eat quietly inside (6 people). We ordered 2 crepes, a smoothie and 2 ice creams. We got the smoothie after 10 minutes, the first crepes after 20 minutes, the second after another 10 minutes, and the ice cream after another 10 minutes. I guess that's a joke!!! Everyone ate separately at different times. Disorganization is the motto of this place. Never again.

Fantastic in dealing with my girl nut allergy .Explained all steps they take to ensure the milkshakes where nut free despite a massive queue of customers. Seating outside overlooking the mourns and sea which was ideal having had our wee dog with us.

Shockingly disappointed with Mauds. Went with my 2 kids, ordered 2 pancakes and 1 French toast. Coffee and drinks came first which we had finished by the time my French toast came, 20 minutes after ordering. Then 15 minutes later one portion of pancakes came...then another 10 minutes later came the second portion of pancakes. We all ate at different stages...some staff are oblivious to whats happening and other try and help....the food was lovely though. Who ever manages the place really needs to see what's happening....

Hard to beat this place if you are looking for a freshly cooked breakfast. The sourdough bap is awesome. The kids loved the pancakes.

We visited Maud's this afternoon, when it was very busy. We had to queue to get in but the queue moved quite quickly. My daughter and I shared a minty mallow mix-in, which was delicious, as always. The staff were friendly and helpful. Just one negative point - there was a queue for the toilet, and there is only one toilet to serve such a busy place, which seems inadequate.

The service here was amazing. I have a severe nut allergy and after being refused service form a place down the road we when in and then the person that served me went above and beyond and opened and fresh spoon and a fresh tub of ice cream. This is the best service I have had before

Great lunch at Mauds Cafe Newcastle. Had always assumed the menu would have been limited to ice cream dishes and coffee/tea but pleasantly surprised at the variety and range of food. Extra bonus was sitting out on the balcony in the sun looking up at the Mournes. Highly recommend.
