Optical Express Laser Eye Surgery, Cataract Surgery, & Opticians: Derby

I recently underwent LASIK treatment with the Optical Express. The team at Derby were fantastic during the consultations and the surgery was just as quick and simple. Sohail, Pavern and Hassan were all very reassuring of the whole process and endeavoured to make sure that the whole process was as comfortable as possible for my surgery day. 5*

I've recently had laser eye surgery, and I can not thank the staff here enough. Kat and Sandeep both looked after me extremely well, and went above and beyond to make sure I was happy and comfortable before, during and after my procedure. The after support has been fantastic, and they're all extremely friendly here at Optical Express. I would never even consider leaving Optical Express Derby, they're all very good at their jobs, and show a real interest in your needs and wants as an individual.Thank you so much to all of you for your fantastic support, and for giving me my eyes back.

I went for an eye test today at Optical Express in Derby and can honestly say that I received thoroughly professional, courteous and above all friendly treatment from start to finish! The staff made me feel comfortable and relaxed and made what could have been a bit of a nerve wracking experience into a truly enjoyable one. I would like to especially thank Marilyn for going out of her way to help me and will be recommending these opticians to my family and friends.

Absolutely fabulous service at very short notice. Marilyn and Rikesh provided first class service for my 88 year old mum. She had never had such a thorough eye test before. First class one to one service and pleasant professional staff that I cannot recommend highly enough.

LASIK FINANCINGI had the lasik done exactly a week ago. My vision has improved although its not 100% yet. The procedure itself was amazing.So why two stars? I have just formally complained to the clinic about my experience with the process before getting the surgery. I am writing this as I do not want it to happen to anyone else who has zero idea about how a financing works like me who has only been in the UK for about two years.I started inquiring about Lasik around the last week of June at the Derby clinic. I was informed about the basic information that I needed including the financing scheme that I can do and I was also scheduled to come back the following week for the free consultation.On the 30th of June I had my eyes checked. The financing options was also explained to me again which only included the amount I would pay every month if I chose between the 18 or 24 months plan which was both at 0% interest. He also told me that if I paid the 500gbp deposit, I can book the surgery date. I was convinced that this was all I needed to do to get my life long dream of getting a better eye sight so I paid the deposit and I had my surgery date booked at the Nottingham clinic.Weeks later, I had to go to Nottingham clinic for another consultation for which I stayed for at least half an hour and again, nobody has informed me everything I needed to know about the financing. My surgery date was then booked for the 8th of September after working it out with my work schedule.Two weeks before the surgery, I received a call from a staff informing me that the surgery date has to be moved to a different date. Again, I had to work it all out with my work schedule and had to ask my manager to change my shifts so I could do the surgery and have a few days off work. Since I was out of the country, I had to tell the staff if we could sort it all out through e-mail and again, she also failed to inform me everything about the financing.Around 10AM on the 6th of September, THE DAY BEFORE THE SURGERY, while I was busy at work, I received a call from a staff at the Derby clinic notifying me that I had to fill out a form for the financing. I told him I was at work but he said I need to do it as soon as possible so he asked a couple of questions and filled out the form whilst on the call. Right after he finished, he told me that I got declined and I was left with two options. I either put in another person to apply for the financing and see if that person will be eligible or pay the rest of the amount in cash. By then I was stressed out and told him I needed to hang up and call him back so I could go back to work while thinking about everything that he just said. I was very upset but I needed to think of a solution. I called the staff back and I couldn’t help myself but I had to rant at how could this all happen on the day before my surgery. I told him that I needed more time to get the money and pay it in cash. The staff on the other line was not even apologetic with all the stress he just caused me that day.I came home and decided to just cancel the surgery, but I read the cancellation policy and I could lose my hard-earned deposit money. So there was really no other choice but to continue the surgery.How could the staff not call me about it at least a week before the surgery? There had been many chances to tell me that I actually needed to apply for the financing and that there is a chance to be denied. I have zero idea about how a financing works and I was convinced that I only needed to pay for the deposit, wait for the surgery and then start paying the rest of the amount monthly. I also wish that the staff was more sympathetic when he hang up after that stressful call.So if you plan on doing the surgery through financing make sure to check first if you are eligible before paying the deposit. Also, make sure to read the fine print specially the cancellation policy if you do not want to lose your money.

Thank you to Optical Express for their kind assistance as I lost a screw out off my spectacles and they fell off leaving me with very little vision. My spotted this shop and because I was in such a predicament I asked for help , a kind member of staff took my glasses and returned them fixed. He asked for no charge and did it a good will gesture. I praise the team highly. Thank you once more.

EXCELLENT experience from the first consultation to being signed off at the end of my treatment.I had lens replacement and would advise anyone who feel a little apprehensive and nervous to just do it.The team are very informative and make you feel relaxed and welcome.I had both my eyes done at the same time and cannot emphasis how delighted I am with the results.Thank you everybody involved with my treatment

It’s been several years I last had an appointment and today I was met with excellent customer service from the minute I walked through the door to leaving. Lovely, polite staff, great optometrist and brilliant manager Sohail. Very informative about treatment options, took time to go through everything with me. Would definitely recommend this Derby branch. Well done to the team!
