Have stayed at this pub several times over the last few years when working locally at the airport, the rooms have recently had a makeover & are very cosy, a good shower & comfy bed. The pub is very traditional & staff are friendly & helpful. Evening menu has a reasonable choice although the prawn cocktail starter is expensive for what you get

We stayed here for a night for a wedding down the road. Fantastic place! Can't believe it's classed as only a 2star should be more. Decor was lovely, room size was great, everything was clean and had all we needed. Bed was super comfy!! Nice quality duvet etc. Slept like a baby! Staff were also really lovely and accommodating and breakfast was spot on! Really recommend and would love to come back another time.

Stayed recently for 3 nights. Room was very nice, comfortable & warm. The staff were lovely, we were always greeted with a smile. Nothing was too much trouble. Sunday lunch was very nice. Same old desserts though on the menu that everyone seems to have. Sticky toffee pudding & warm chocolate brownie & ice cream. Not a lot of options. Bar was cold on two nights, we sat with our coats on, there was a log fire but that wasn't lit. Having said that, its a lovely place to stay & would stay again. Put some candles on the tables to help with 'ambience' & offer chocolate mints when giving the bill would give it a nicer touch. We'll done The Fishermans Haunt & thank you for a nice stay.

We stayed for one night as we were going to buy a car near by. We had a warm welcome when we arrived. The bar and restaurant were very comfortable and staff incredibly friendly. Our room was beautiful. Lovely and clean and warm and the bed was super comfy. We will definitely be going back, thank you! x

Service superb, staff friendly, extremely helpful and very efficient. Food quality excellent and very tasty. Car park was large with huge outdoor seating areas. We stayed in coachouse and found our room fully equipped with all the mod cons. Only drawback is there is no bus service or local shop that I could see. With that said, thanks to the management who have a cracking team at this gem of a hotel. Definitely stay here again.

A lovely place in the Dorset countryside. Friendly staff , superb food served . Can recommend the smash burger and chilli brisket. Dog friendly which is a big plus. Not too far from anywhere. Rooms standard, bed comfortable. Only 1 gripe . Pillows were like laying your head on a sandbag. Plenty of parking space .

Rather dark vista but still pleasent.Food fine to excellent. Had the plowmans. Only little point was scotch eggs were warm as cooked specifically for each person. Cannot fault it but would have preferred them cold. Host very amicable

Such a shame. I used to love this pub, but last night a family meal was ruined by the poor service. The bill took over an hour to sort, after they had not taken a deposit into account which had been paid before arrival, tried to charge for an extra seat which wasn't occupied, and added over a 10% service charge which was not mentioned anywhere on the details provided at the time of booking. The food itself was mediocre at best, with no consistency of what was on the plates. From mine almost overflowing with gravy, to some having barley any. At the time, we didn't say anything and accepted it for what it was, but on reflection I don't think any of us will be returning to what used to be a very well run and professional pub. An absolute let down and terrible service. I would recommend the Oak inn just up the road as a far better option. Also, the chocolate orange cake was stale in places, and the crème brulé was very runny. Yorkshire puddings also had a hideous amount of oil still at the bottom.
