I have stayed in the location for 5 days when visiting Edinburgh due to some work at University. The university is like 15 minutes walking from the residence. Next to the university, there is also a big shopping center. The city center with the famous Royal mile is like 25 minutes walking, but there is a bus stop almost right in the front of the property. The room and bathroom were very clean and maintained every day. There is no breakfast option but there are tons of small joints, bars, pubs, pizzas, kebab places etc. near by. There is no vault to lock precious belongings and the management reserves right to compensate losses up to 50£ max, so I better carried my notebook with camera and money with me all the days. Still, price wise the room was worth the money. The management should consider placing additional Wi-Fi router on the top floor as sometimes the signal went off. But most of time I was able to use it. I recommend the location for your business trip, academic travel, conference, short tourism. It might not be perhaps convenient for older people, families with kids, and pets are not allowed either. But in my case, the property met perfectly my needs and I would check if the property is available when staying in the city next time.

Stayed 2 nights. Housekeepers came to make beds etc. Totally unexpected, but a nice touch. Only issue was no hot water on first day. Still not sure why, but probably due to soneobe else using it all rather than a property issue.Clean, comfy, and good for bus to city.

Small and slightly rundown rooms with no service at all. Overpriced for the fact that there is no service, no breakfast and you have to walk at least 20 minutes to the city center.

Very expensive but comfy bed, clean room, and quiet place. Would recommend.

Great location, clean, tea/coffee/milk, great hot shower, fluffy pillows and towels, great WiFi and exactly as pictured. However the woman in the room next to me- room 1 on 16-17th May was running a foreign call centre operation on loudspeaker from 8pm-4am. It was non stop calls and monologues with one customer after the next. There were breaks during which she belted out the same two lines from a pop song on a loop. After two hours sleep I got up for work utterly exhausted. I think some staff presence may be necessary for your guests who are completely inconsiderate and using the premises for their own business.

A good mile walk from the center, but the room was perfect, bed was comfy. It was clean, shower was a decent size. Easy to access the keys. Best part is no front of house staff so perfect if you're a introvert!

I stayed at Allson 16 for 5 days, it was a not very pleasant experience, the floor is very thin and you hear everyrhing from the rooms above you, especially boom boom boom from the footsteps, o couldn't have a good sleep in 4 nights. 25 minutes walk to the center. It's a bit expensive for what it offers, that is, nothing more, a poorly made house, you hear anything from anyone, there isn't really a supermarket nearby, the towels were never changed in these 5 days that i stayed here. So I personally do not recommend.

Comparing to other hotels in Edinburgh, this hotel is a ver good deal. Location is alright. Bus stop is close and there are many buses to take.Just….the room is quite small and the insulation can be improved.The shower head is broken. It can’t be hung properly, so it wasn’t easy to shower and there were many ants crawling everywhere, not just on the floor.Don’t know how it became a 4-star hotel. Cuz it’s definitely not.In general, it’s still ok to stay.

It's an unmanned hotel but the room was clean and access was easy. Price okay for Edinburgh
