The Plough Hotel

I enjoyed a cappuccino and my husband had beer, both excellent and served by a really pleasant and helpful member of staff. Enjoyed these simple pleasures so much that we will make a point of going back for lunch or dinner.

No don’t goA quiet little village but hotel 1st impression looks nice & room was lovely. Afternoon football on & our room was above the bar what a racket with the tv blasting & everyone shouting I thought fair enough they are watching the football. Evening meal we both order lamb shank to be told none left there was only 2 other people in the restaurant & they didn’t get lamb shank scampi was not scampi & my chicken was ok. Went into the bar for a drink & a lot of the people in there were very drunk & loud the woman behind the bar was controlling the music off her phone & it was getting louder & louder but she was jumping from one song not finishing it & jumping to another one thought this is not for us so We went back to the room as my dog was shaking with amount of people & the loud musicThe noise in our room was like being in a night club as it was so loud you could not hear yourself think or watch the tv as the music & the people were shouting over the music what a nightmare waited until 10.45 & my husband went down to say this was unreasonable especially when residents are in the room above. The woman behind the bar refused to come to the room to hear how bad it was in our room but she did turn it offStill noise of people still in the bar talking but did eventually fall asleepWe’re supposed to be there for a 2nd night but thought better if it could put up with that again. Did ask the woman on the bar to get the manager to be there this morning but she was not there so couldn’t speak to her.I just think someone needs to address the fact your renting rooms our as a hotel so this should not be happeningYes have music on but not as loud as a night club or go up to the room & see how uncomfortable it is when the music is on so loud or even when the bar is noisy that. Cannot be rightWould like you contact me as to why this happened & It made me feel so uncomfortable & upset that we had to leave as could deal with it againAwait your replyMr & Mrs Robinson

Excellent hotel for the day I completed the Pennine Way. Service was amazing.

Lovely room and a warm welcome. Staff fantastic and good craic. Location fantastic for walking or just chilling for a night or 2. Highlight though was the food - a simple menu but that was a positive as the food was fresh, local produce beautifully seasoned and delicious. Will definitely return.

We took the chance to have a night here and catch Kelso Operatic Society's fund raiser. Great welcome from staff. Dinner great value. Chef happy to chat and interested in feedback. Fantastic atmosphere in pub. Room very good value. Will be going again as efforts such as this deserve support.

The food was very very nice and the bar staff was very accommodating and couldn’t do enough to make your visit as pleasant as possible. Very welcoming and will return next time we are in the area!

A quick visit for drinks, liked it a lot, will visit again.

The staff are all wonderful & welcoming. The room was absolutely lovely (such a comfy bed!) and meals were fab. The staff were very helpful and SUPER patient working around my food allergies & the chef did an amazing job. Every meal was refreshingly good despite being dairy, gluten and sugar free. :) This girl was a happy camper!

Didn’t stay so can’t review rooms. Used the bar wonderful atmosphere. They staff are witty and funny and really easy to talk to. I met about five sdifferent staff among two actual persons but all where just wonderful. Cheree was very witty and fun. Beer gives good head that keeps on giving after you’ve sipped it. Rarely give five stars but very happy to have visited. Thank you, from Newcastle.

Food amazing - Eyemouth haddock (first class ) the same for the lamb shank and sticky toffee pudding the following night . Will be back next year -totally recommend The Plough and lovely staff. Thanks
