The pub itself was very lovely, with a spacious beer garden. The massive downside was the service, with the staff giving off the impression they were annoyed we were at their place of work rather than being accommodating. They were rude and made the place feel unwelcome and we left very quickly to avoid feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome by the members of staff.

Absolutely stunning pub and location. The publican was very personable and his hospitality was second to none. The food was lovely, good quality, well presented and value for money. I would recommend this establishment to anyone who stays in the area.

What a lovely pub! I remember going as a young child and it always having lovely food. Now the new owners seem to be keeping up with traditions. The food was lovely, homely scrumptious pub grub! The staff were very friendly and happy to help.

If I could leave 0 stars for the food I would. I’ve never left a review for somewhere before but I am so horrified by the shockingly poor standard of food, that I couldn’t not. My husband and 3 children had a table booked for 4.30, the waitress was really lovely and friendly so couldn’t fault the service. The food however, was absolutely disgusting with mine actually being inedible. It is the first time in my life i physically couldn’t eat the meal because it was so bad! The mashed ‘potato’ was cheap microwaved stuff that was full of hard potato lumps with no flavour whatsoever. The sausage tasted cheap and was obviously very poor quality, it left a funny aftertaste. The gravy was obviously an instant one which was cold and lumpy. My son’s kids menu burger looked vile, I would’ve even feed to a dog. The burger was definitely not fresh or homemade it was the kind of instant burger that’s put in a microwave. Although my meal was taken off the bill because it was inedible, we still had the pleasure of paying £64 to eat here. While we were seated I watched a Scottish waitress serve a glass of wine in a cocktail glass and say ‘sorry we’ve no wine glasses left’. The woman and man understandably looked horrified. I also heard the other waitress explain to a family looking to book a table, that they were fully booked due to the kitchen being understaffed. I would have rather they had cancelled the booking than serve such cheap and nasty food!

Booked a table for 7:20pm, walked from the caravan site, with 2 hungry teenagers, approximately 25 minute walk away. We fancied a change from the caravan site and wanted to have an ‘eat in a local pub’ experience. Arrived at 7pm, thinking we could have a drink in the beer garden before ordering food. As we walked in, we weren’t acknowledged by the staff. We could sense arguments were going on between the bar staff and customers in the pool area. Overheard the barmaid saying the chef was 18 years old and on her own, so show ‘some respect’. After waiting a few minutes, the same said barmaid stormed behind the bar saying the kitchen was closed. The barmaid serving us, repeated this to us whilst shrugging her shoulder. Firstly, we were told this because ‘fights’ were ‘breaking out’ with other customers, because of the food. Then we were told, it was because the card machine was down. We explained we had walked over a mile to get there however, no apology was given, no offer of a free drink, nothing! In fact the barmaid very much dismissed us and turned away to speak with her colleague. No idea if the food is any good, but going by the customer service, I would avoid!

Lukewarm reception was followed by being asked to pay an extra £10 for the room - which we refused as we had been quoted a set price of £120. We were then asked to pay upfront in cash - which I have never done before in 20 years of using hotels! Room was very small (had to put suitcases in bathroom so we didn't fall over them). On a plus side, it was a lovely bathroom, comfortable bed and very clean. Think a fairer price for the room would be around £80.
