××× AVOID AVOID AVOID ×××Absolute scum, after having used umbrella companies for several years with no problems, i ended up with Sterling, what a joke of a company.They will tell you that you can claim expenses for travel etc, expenses aren't taxable so employees save money each week when providing receipts for expenses, BUT, if you ever forget to send in receipts, lose receipts, or simply have no expenses that week due to different circumstances, Sterling then RETAIN PART OF YOUR WAGE AND PUT THEM IN A POT" and you won't see that money again until you provide receipts

Biggest crock of shyt. Trying to get hold of the office and after listening to what seems an eternity of gash music. It cuts off numerous times!! The fact that they take horrendous amounts of money off you is one thing but when there not paying it is another!!After submitting this review I was contacted by the office which then made a big effort to rectify the situation and I satisfied that my concern was resolved in a timely manner, it is a shame it came to this but it does go to show that you can be heard and it doesn't go unnoticed. Thank you

The company I work for have used sterling for my wages for over 4 year and in those 4 year I have never spoke to sterling on the phone because i have never needed to, there hasn't been one problem with sterling's services. For the record I use them for CIS self employed.

They look proffessional. They work proffessional. They got good contracts. They are pro's at taking your money out of you. For me as employee, their service is useless, but my company is using only them. They have good motto. Reality is as close as white colour to black in description - totally opposite. Just take a look on charges, ni and how they can help you get back your money.

I had a query regarding my pay so rang up to find out if they had received my hours and when I would be getting paid. I spoke to a bloke called ollie on the phone who was very friendly and helpful and swiftly told me the answers i needed, he even rang me up on a follow up call once the money had been processed on his side to make sure it had all gone through to my bank. Top customer service, better than any other payroll company I've been with and I've been with a fair few.

Recruiter called to tell of a position with £12/h rate, only to find out, after working a full day, from Sterling Group/Umbrella that they are only going to pay minimum wage. More than 25% less than was stated. That doesn't seem right, asked repeatedly about the contract and pay and told it was coming and was £12/h, but they needed the start right away.

Have to agree with all the poor reviews. I made a speculative enquiry with regards to using Sterling but decided not to go with them, they then hounded me relentlessly. I tried blocking their number but they still found a way to call me. When I called them to ask to remove my contact details, they told me they were in the middle of processing a payment for me, which is clearly untrue as I hadn't even signed up with them. Some members of staff are ok, others are shocking - would advise to steer clear.
