Heckington Windmill
Interesting mix of a museum and pub and cafe all within the shadow of the unique 8-sailed windmill. What's open (and if its open) depends on when you go. Pleasant dog friendly beer garden, all located alongside the railway line and Heckington station.

Amazing to see what they have done to this former coal yard, a brewery, a bar and a tea room.

We often pop to the lovely cafe here. It serves great food, especially home-baked cakes, and always gives very friendly, helpful service. On the same site there are also: the 8-sailed mill to visit, the mill shop (which sells oats and flour ground in the mill); and a micro-brewery. The cafe, shop and mill are all run by volunteers so open hours are restricted. Well worth dropping in during their opening hours though

Decided to visit the Windmill today Sunday 2nd July. What a joy climbing the stairs/ladder to the near top of the windmill. Very informative and fun to do but you need to be not scared of heights. We visited the small shop and bought some porridge oats and lemon curd. The lady spoke to us about her rhubarb jam that she had made, so friendly. We nipped into the brewery for some pale ale then managed to eat in the cafe too. The apple and lemon cake went very well with my coffee thankyou. Such a lovely place to visit, eat and drink. Also very oldy worldly tea rooms that are great to dine in. Would love to go back if those fires work in the winter. Would be so cozy...

This is a very rare eight sailed windmill in fact one of the only eight sailed ones. It was built as it was thought it would be better but they had to flair the sails so much it was pointless having eight sails. The windmill is setup with a good visitors centre and the mill can be visited for £5 per adult. If you book in advance you may also be able to get a guided tour.By the side of the mill there's a small micro brewery again well worth a visit and a taste if you are not driving, with a good variety of beers / ales to buy and take home to try. There is also a tea room that does cakes and light meals the tea room is set up with some side rooms made up as in times gone by.On the day we visited it was being run by a number of more mature ladies it was like having your mum serve you, they were great chatty and friendly. The prices were very reasonable and the tea rooms were nice and warm which was nice as it was particularly cold on the day we visited. We visited as a small crowd (24 people) with vintage and classic vehicles without warning them but they handled serving us all without any issues.

Definitely worth a visit. We went on a recommendation of 'good place for a nice cake' . The working mill grinds different grains into flour which is available to buy in the shop. There is a tea room that has a selection of excellent cakes which are made with the flour from the mill. Of course, the other great product made from grain, is beer, which is brewed onsite and available for sale. Very good beer and worth a try. All in all a good place to visit and spend a couple of hours to savour the products and learn a bit about local history.

Easily located a few miles north of Helpringham, this historic site has plenty of parking, a modern entrance hall and visitors' exhibition, access to the Windmill itself, a Brewer's Hall and an expansive tea room. Staff were very helpful and friendly and refreshments most enjoyable and reasonably priced. Pleased to be able to reach the top floor of the mill and take photos. Not bad for a disabled 75 year old!
