My grandfather came to alma lodge after a long stay at hospital and his needs then changed. The owner was very hands on in everything. Went out of his way to welcome my grandfather taking an interest in what my grandfather enjoyed and gave him regualr updates on that. The staff are 5 star. Unfortunately my grandfather deteriorated and passed. The home made sure he was pain free and comfortable and that was a great comfort at such an awful time. All of the staff here are fantastic. It is more like a family unit. Massive thanks to Jan for making sure i got there in time. I cannot rate this home enough! Nothing is too much. A massive Thank you for everything

I was surprised to read such a negative review, As having had a relative reside at the above nursing home. I can only express my own honest opinion I found the staff always helpful, approachable and compassionate. As my relative was there 4+ years I never came across the things that the woman said that happened to her relative which seems very strange unless she has some ULTERIOR MOTIVE. I have had friends whose relatives have also resided there who have all had positive comments to say about the care home. As for the bedroom I was told that I could bring in my aunt's familiar possessions to make her feel at home. Which obviously this women did not. Although I am not medically trained I know the importance of people being turned 2 hourly to prevent bed sores to which I am thankful for as my aunt spent the last 18 months in bed before she passed away without any signs of any marks or sores.

Some not all staff are too much involved with their own high opinion of themselves .my stepmother went there for end of life care .she had better care at her own home .with outside carers from the local authority and other professionals. Mc millan stayed overnight .the atmosphere at Alma Lodge was miserable. She was left alone in a boring room with hardly anything familiar. Just to be turned and cleaned 2 hourly ..she was dying .more important was for her to be moved as little as poss as it was painful and to have someone be there so she was not alone ..the cleanliness came into a lot of doubt in my opinion .quite dark inside and an odd whiff here and there .I will never let anyone else I know go there .it needs a complete overhaul in all aspects .the phone call I received to say she had passed away from senior management was appalling .no sympathy or concern .just rushed about me getting there before they could let others on to do their part ie funeral directors. But I may be in the way of nurses taking away meds devises .very rude .I ended up not going .made me feel quite unwelcome ..
