Craignelder Hotel
What a find. Clean and tidy with probably a recent update to the décor. Really friendly and accommodating staff who went out of their way to arrange a meal for a weary and late arrival. The food was great too. So don't just pass through Stranraer as so many do, stay and enjoy the break in your journey.

Lovely hotel..great view from our room.We had dinner both nights of our stay and breakfasts...all good.Friendly staff as well. Would use again.

Food is amazing and service.We went 3 times in 7 days.I'm a gluten free and had lots of choice including desserts.We went for Sunday dinner best we had in ages.We went for the early bird between 1700hrs - 1800hrs and the menu ,had a very good choice and very reasonable price.If I lived there I think I be there at least twice a week.Well done and please keep it up

Very nice - just be aware that like many old places there probably isn’t an elevator. I am having to admit (reluctantly) that I am one of those people with “mobility issues” and I did find the turn in the staircase quite a challenge.The dining room has very nice choices and the food is great.

Quaint little place. Stopped here while waiting on the 7.30 boat. Unfortunately the kitchen was closed but Caroline took pity on my wet state after hitting the rain on the bike n got me a bowl of soup n a cuppa. Lovely staff.

Stayed here before catching the morning ferry to Belfast. Found a car parking space at the back of the hotel.The restaurant seems very popular and was busy when I arrived Which is good to see.The room was clean, had a kettle with complimentary tea/coffee and biscuits. I stayed in a room at the read of the hotel above the kitchen. On a very sunny day it was quite warm, though I managed to sleep fine.Breakfast was typical cooked items with cereal and fruit also available. I had beans, mushrooms, tomato and a potato scone. Skipped cereal as oat/soya milk was not available. All very nice and well presented.The sea front is just opposite and you can walk along the coast for a bit in one direction. The peace garden and town are a brief stroll in the other direction.The drive to the ferry port took less than 20 minutes in the morning.

It's 3 star rating is a little unfair. I've stayed in hotels with 4 stars that weren't as nice. The friendly staff couldn't do enough. A really nice place to stay.
