A beautiful little church with an amazing history, the lady who was there was very helpful answering my questions, even the boring ones that she hears 50 times a day, where does the queen sit during service"."

St. Mary Magdalene Church
A small church located within the Sandringham Estate. The estate is owned by the British Royal family and has been the residence to for generations of monarchs since 1862.Whilst small the church is rich in history and is the church where the Royal family would typically have their Christmas service. As you would expect there is a lot of Royal history in the church itself as well as in the graveyard. The silver altar is said to be made with over a ton of silver! Lots of great workmanship to be seen as well as some stunning stained glass.Absolutely worth a visit whether you’re a royalist or not.

This beautiful 16th century church is close to the garden entrance on the Sandringham Estate. The Royal Family attend services here when they are at Sandringham, and it's also where some royal christenings have taken place over the years. The church is free to enter. Built of warm brown carrstone and set in a leafy churchyard, it has a lovely rustic feel to it on the outside that certainly didn't prepare me for the richness of the interior! The elaborate chancel ceiling and the silver altarpiece, pulpit and processional cross are truly magnificent. I also loved the medieval stained glass. There are a lot of interesting royal memorials inside the church and a couple of royal graves outside. Bought an informative and beautifully illustrated guidebook for only £3 at the small gift shop at the entrance. The lady in the shop was both friendly and helpful.

Absolutely stunning! Steeped in history and familiar to all from the news reels of royal family annual visits on Christmas morning. The 12th century architecture and murials are beautiful. Free to visit on the estate it is a must view if you are there.

Absolutely stunning little church with Royal connections. You are able to sit in the pews where the Queen and her family sat, and where the King and his family sit.The altar and pulpit are stunning.Photos don't really do justice to the splendour and atmosphere.
