We only stayed and didn't eat.Room was damp, with woodlice running around. Broken draws, paint peeling off the walls and the foul stench in the en suite after a shower.Genuinely disgusted that we were charged £70 for something that made a hostel look upper class.

Has the potential to be a really great restaurant/hotel if the owner was to trust his staff a bit more. When we visited he was trying to do everything from cooking/ taking orders/preparing bills /serving food to tables / checking guests into the hotel/seating guests in the restaurant. Which resulted in very long waits for everything. The staff all seemed very capable of doing there jobs.Saying that the food was very nice, all the meat in the dishes was well cooked and tasty. The rooms could do with a bit of TLC.

Despite the recent bad reviews we decided to try the restaurant as it's only a mile to walk from our hotel. From the outside it looks shabby & certainly could do with some TLC.The meal was excellent, the manager was trying to do all the serving himself which was nice in a way as it gave us chance for our food to go down between servings. There was a musty smell around the men's toilets which you have to pass to get to the ladies.I'd be happy to dine there again.

Being run by a new team the pub has pleasant surroundings with a small bar area and a larger restaurant. The food was lovely with generous servings. The staff were very pleasant. A good choice of bitter, cider and lagers. The bar area is pet friendly, which we found very welcome.

The place is really nice, good pictures on the walls, nice old style furniture. Food is good and the portions are a good size. The let down sadly is there's no disabled toilet, gents is rubbish and the ladies are great if you can get to it. The staff, they make you feel as though your in the way, and the place was very quiet and everything take ages to get to you. To get our food, which was two jacket potatoes, scampi and a steak, it took 40 minutes and there was one other couple before us.In review its not changed in 12 month, great but slow.

Illegal business, the hotel is “operated” being closed!!!!!That was quite scary experience. The hotel didn’t seem to operate at all. The large sign on the entrance saying “temporary closed”. But several hours before we came, a person called us to ask calling him back when we come to the place. Which we did watching the temporary-closed sign and feeling as we beeping in a scam situation. The place looked abandoned. But it was too late to search any other place to stay. After we called, that person opened a front door and closed it after us on a padlock. He said restaurant or room service were not operated and showed us our room, as well as a fire exit which we should use for leaving, not using the entrance door. The whole night we were hoping only to spend it safe and leave the hotel as soon as possible. In the morning when we had a breakfast nearby we’ve been told by the owner of the Potting Shed Whitchurch restaurant that that Crown Hotel was closed for good after being raided by the police for immigrants something issues. She was shocked that someone was still able to spend a night there. I can’t imagine who was the person who let us in. Maybe it's squatters?Anyway, I’ve reported the situation to Booking.com, but they didn’t seem concern about a safety of their clients, they said “As far as we understand they accommodated you, so you stayed the night. In this case we cannot treat the property as closed. Also it is a property responsibility to close the calendar on our website. “So I only can just warn potential clients with this review. Please be careful.

Booked this pub due to its location to the forest of Dean, and the fact it was a pub and Indian restaurant. (Husbands Birthday) Unfortunately when we arrived the restaurant/pub was closed for business apart from the rooms up stairs. We had to use a fire escape door at the back of the building when leaving and entering. The rooms were okay, beds clean and comfortable but could of done with a bit of TLC.

Only went in for dinner, and it was the worst Indian food I've ever had. Both curries we ordered were supposed to be served on a sizzling dish but they both arrived in a cold bowl and were so salty they were literally inedible. The lemon rice also was so salty we couldn't eat it. The peshwari naan was the only edible thing but it was clearly not made in the kitchen and came from a packet. When we complained to the FOH manager he was extremely rude and offered us a 20% discount for a load of food we had about 2 mouthfuls of.Terrible service, terrible atmosphere, would recommend you save your money and dine elsewhere because this was a truly shocking experience. We ended up paying £36 for a few poppadoms and a bit of bread. Oh and the beers were just cans from the fridge put into a pint glass.Overall the experience was absolutely terrible.
