Had a lovely walk from Longthorpe Bluebell Woods, around Ferry Meadows to Milton Ferry Bridge and along the riverside boardwalk. Went early Sunday morning so not many people around. I loved it.

Beautiful bluebell woods in the middle of Peterborough, simply stunning place to see the wildlife and take a short peaceful stroll with the dog where it's naturally cool on a warm sunny day.

The bluebell and other spring flowers are beautiful, peaceful but needs some seats at intervals for those who need to sit down and rest and enjoy the woods. Just visited again Easter Monday and there is now a seat given in memory

Good one night stop. Some road noise close by but ok. 7.5m van but only room for one or two at best. Dog walkers most of the usual times.

#wildlifebcn.org№ 3. THORPE WOOD.Perhaps you're reading this on a mobile phone you recently smuggled into the nearby Police Station, in some cavity unmentionable... and you're curious about the little woods just through the bars of your cell. Well, hypothetical jailbird, wonder no more because we've got you covered! After a disastrous Nature Walk yesterday, I was keen to impress H.E. with something better than the filthy field that was Stanground Wash. I was nervous that our relationship depended on it, so... Thorpe (ahem, Bluebell) Woods was just the thing. Rich in fauna and beautiful flowers, something a girl might enjoy. It started off well. We found the usual Propaganda Board (Pictured) pointing out all the nature we were both certain we wouldn't see and the sun was shining. Because we were on home turf this time, we eyed everyone we saw in the woods with great suspicion... just in case they weren't local. You're welcome, Longthorpe.Just when I thought H.E. had fully forgiven me for the previous day's escapade, the sky opened and an apocalyptic hailstorm battered the romance out of us... it wasn't exactly how I thought nature might blow her undies off but it had a similar impact. We spent the rest of the short walk with our faces turned to the floor to prevent actual scarring from happening... I'm sure the woods were lovely, and packed with wildlife, but we barely made it out alive.Fun fact (Lie): The carved face in the log (pictured) was actually carved by PBH... before he instead settled on the much swifter sport of tagging his initials all over Orton Mere. Get a PlayStation or something PBH.Summary:Loved every minute. The Propaganda Board should have been a weather warning instead. No sign of Nigel. Sadly, lacking a railway, but the cries of Police sirens provided the excitement the trains didn't. Oh, everybody loves a train.JB & HE 11/4/21#NatureWalkExperts

A nice slice of nature to escape the bricks and mortar of the city, plus it's own collection of some peculiar formed trees.
