The guesthouse is okay for its price and George seems like a nice person, although we didn't interact with him much. The shower is shared with all the guests and, although it is not dirty, the repeated use throughout the day makes it an uncomfortable experience (very wet floor mat, etc). The mugs in the room were dirty and the kettle too. Overall it is a decent place if you're on a low budget. I'm just coming here to say that George discredits any negative review making up information you cannot disproof as you cannot reply to his comments. This has happened to us in a different comment, where the information provided in his reply was completely false, and now I suspect the same has happened to other reviews.

You get what you pay for... and then some.I arrived on a Friday morning and everyting was pretty good. Clean sheets, nice location relative to the train station, decent facilities. This is not, of course, why I gave it 3 stars. On the last night of my stay, a Saturday night, I was right to anticipate a certain loudness to the whole house's occupants, and that there was. I was not prepared, however, for a fire alarm at 2am Sunday morning, caused by some delinquents smoking a nefarious substance in their room. About half an hour later the fire services had cleared us to return to bed.It was storming outside.

Owner's response is a lie. Booked a room for two people and didn't have anyone else in the room. He never called me either. I think he says these things to discredit bad reviews as seen in other reviews.

This place was pretty cheap, but pretty depressing.Everything was grubby, by which I mean unclean. Light switches and door handles covered in dirt. The shower room was a study in mildew, with the dirt of ages in the spaces behind the doors. It's not often you feel dirtier after having a shower.Of the two sets of plug sockets in our room, one had a non functioning plug and the other was loose in the wall. The bedding had a second hand feel to it, as did the cups provided for tea and coffee. We did select on price and we were late in placing the booking. It's a lesson learned. I very much doubt we'll ever be back! Two stars rather than one though, as the owner was friendly enough.

Misled by Airbnb into thinking this is a private room in a home but turned out to be a badly-run guest house with a rude & pompous host. The shared bathroom looked clean at first but guests have to share a bath mat which got soaked by day 2. The hot water in the shower is heated by a small box heater attached to the shower head. The hot water ran out after I'd put shampoo on. Had to turn off the shower & stand in the cold for the heater to heat up more water before I was able to rinse off! There was no stopper in the room basin, resulting in my skincare bottle falling right inside the grain. I had misheard the check out time as 11am when it was actually 10am. George knocked on my door aggressively at 10:35am, inserting a door stopper as if he was about to clean the room when I was not even packed/dressed, declaring that he's an important person and I was making him late for a meeting. I finished packing in less than 10 minutes, yet he came back to order me to leave. This is by far the worst experience for any Airbnb or even guest house stay anywhere in the world. Airbnb removed my feedback only after half a day because I had unknowingly disclosed his job in the city, hence making him identifiable. This is why I'm reposting my review here because I do not wish anyone to make the same mistake. AVOID AT ALL COST!!

It's a very reasonable rate a night, a clean, safe place to stay, and George the owner lives on site. Don't believe the bad reviews, I found it to be quite pleasant there whilst my mum was recovering from an RTA at the University of Cambridge Hospital.

Avoid this place like plague! Staff is rude and argumentative, completely unsupportive. 1 Star is way too much.

Had a great stay with George who was always friendly and stopped for a chat. The rooms are basic but spacious and clean, tea/coffee topped up if you need. Bathrooms also looked newly renovated and clean. Like alot of houses in the UK, walls can be quite thin and floors creaky but wasn't a huge deal when you're paying a good price to stay close to the city in a great location surrounded by food options!
