We had the festive afternoon tea in the Derby room with a Seaview. Really loved it, amazing food which was done fresh and the waiter Chris was great, really informative about the history of the room and building. We had a lovely time perfect for a Christmas treat/present.

We usually stay at The Imperial and generally good. This time we had a superior sea view room but it was incredibly hot (a fan moving around hot air wouldn’t have helped!), there was a radiator and a heated towel rail in the bathroom so it was overbearing hot in there. We also had issues with noise from the room above. Yes, we could have asked to be moved but only staying for 2 nights it seemed pointless. Food was good, but sometimes large queues for breakfast. Check in always takes ages! We paid for early check in but had to wait 20 mins more for our room to be ready!

Booked a DELUXE Double sea view room for extra money !! Looks just like a basic double loads of issues on our arrival. Big tea or coffee stain on duvet cover, howling gale through the tiny sash window had to insulate with towels radiator in bathroom not working, worn out patches on the headboard, no bathrobes or slippers as stated had to ask for them. Cleanliness could also be looked at … This is definitely not what I would call deluxe so don’t waste your money

The staff were absolutely wonderful to us, dining room, bar, cleaners and reception. The food was very good,The room was a seaview, slightly dated but we loved it nonetheless. It was in our week, wet and windy so the backstreet in to the town in order to keep upright. We have been many times and will do so in the future. We loved it.

OK, so like most of these grand old seaside hotels, this one would benefit from a refresh (especially the shower!) but nevertheless, it's a gorgeous place to spend a few nights. The sans-aircon rooms may get a little hot during the summer, but the rest of the hotel was so characterful. Wood panelling everywhere and a lovely, art deco bar.Breakfast was good and the public rooms were spacious. The location is faultless: right on the seafront and a tram stop virtually on the doorstep.Would definitely return.

Great location. We stayed in a suite, no issues there, the room was clean, warm and comfortable. The food and hospitality at breakfast was also great.Unfortunately this was the only positive points. We checked in an were talking about dining later on that evening, when we came.down for dinner we were told the restaurant was closed due to a function on but we could go to the bar for food. We went to the bar, they advised 1.5r wait. We ended up ordering food from KFC. Had we been told at check in the restaurant was closed, we would have found an alternative.I needed sanitary products when I awoke Sunday morning. I checked the hamper provided, they had shoe polish sponges but no sanitary product. I asked reception who apologised and said no. I checked toilets and they also had non to purchase. The nearest shop didn't open for a few hours so it wasn't great to say the least. We regularly stay in hotels across the country and never had an issue, may I suggest considerating updating the hamper/ adding sanitary products to female bathrooms/ reception so this can be avoided in future.

We were a 20 minute walk away from the town centre but there is a tram stop right outside but we didn't use the tram. We had breakfast in the hotel. It's set out as a buffet and you can have a mixture of continental and hot food. It was nice. We also had afternoon tea. It was delicious. I recommend the scones. There was good entertainment in the bar at night. The drinks were a tad on the expensive side but we didn't mind. The rooms were cosy and spacious with a little fridge which I find great. The beds were comfy. All nice and clean. I've stayed here twice now and will most likely be back again.

The Imperial Hotel was easy to find a good location right on the sea front. On arrival we found plenty of car parking spaces on the hotel premises.Check in was quick and easy with friendly and helpful staff.Room suits to building however cleanliness could been better expeciallyin the bathroom.Overall we had a very comfortable stay with a very good breakfast, we were seated and served very quickly with no waiting around. We would definitely stay again.
