French chez Valérie

A simple review cannot do justice to the amazing French teacher that Valerie has been for me the past 2 years, taking me through my A level qualification. I arrived, back in October 2019, not being able to construct a sentence, but after spending 3-4 hours a week with Valerie, I can nearly now have complete confidence in my ability to form full paragraphs and hold conversations. Valerie has always been kind, lovely and always willing to go the extra mile to facilitate me with my learning, and has always been flexible to when I want to come to lessons. Over the lockdowns, we had lessons online, and it was honestly no different. A teacher who can still manage to engage a student even online for months, in my book, is a great one.

We are very thankful to have met Valerie through a friend. She is very thorough with her teaching strategy but most of all, the result is tangible --- top class GCSE! Je vous remercie, Valerie.

I have attending French conversation classes with Valerie for over a year now. I heartily recommend her. She takes the time to understand what my goals are and works to ensure that we are covering the content that meets my needs. She is very gentle when she corrects me so that my confidence is not dented!I feel that my French has really improved and it has been very helpful to cover more technical French vocabulary for my job as well as becoming more fluent in my conversational French.Valerie will put you at ease very quickly and I would recommend her!

My children (now 10 and 12 years) have been going after school French with Valerie for several years, they really enjoy their lessons and it has given them confidence to try out their french on holiday. Valerie successful supports and builds on their school french lessons.

I have had Valerie as a teacher for about 6 months now and have now completed my exams. She has been an amazing teacher and helped me gain confidence with tackling exam papers which in the past had proven difficult. We worked on many essays, and she gave me lots of improvements and ideas to push my essay writing level from a a very basic level to B's and A's. She also helped me with many translation exercises and grammar topics which were essential for my exams. I would highly recommend her, she's a wonderful teacher!

Valerie has a real gift for teaching. I took some song lyrics to her that I wanted to translate and sing. She knows how to convey the information in an interesting way and is very encouraging and positive.

It’s rare to come across a teacher that is so committed and supportive and, as a parent, I can confidently say Valerie ticked both boxes. My daughter’s sixth-form did not offer French as an A level, so we were recommended Valerie from her helpful French GCSE teacher.My daughter was eager to study A level French as she would like to continue with modern languages at a higher level. After our initial meeting we found Valerie to be professional, courteous and sincere and she was very knowledgeable about the AQA syllabus and what is expected of a student.During these past 2 years, lessons were conducted virtually and face-to-face. Valerie was always at hand outside of these lessons giving support and guidance and was very generous with her time. We also appreciated the help given for the UCAS application. I feel that my daughter wouldn’t have learnt and gained as much from a classroom set up as she did with Valerie. We would highly recommend her. Thank you Valerie!
