Just awesome. Didn’t realise that booking was recommended as so popular. It was a driving break on trip from Norwich to Kelso, so timing with accurate ETA not really an option. The team fitted us in for a lunchtime bite so not a problem on this occasion. Noted for future visits. The menu is not massive but the quality of food being served and consumed was fantastic. It’s definitely programmed into my satnav for future visits and will be worthy of a divert in the knowledge of good food and friendly service. Bakery on site providing yummy breads….. keep up the great work and look forward to seeing you again in the future. Mr & Mrs P

Second time visiting and food lovely as always. Service was good, however they did forget our drinks and had to be reminded. Busy but not full.

I’ve been here for breakfast 5 times now and every time the staff are so warm and welcoming and the food is always absolutely delicious. The french toast is incredible and the full English is one of the best I’ve ever had.The cafe is always full so I recommend booking! Can’t wait for my next visit.

Very disappointed to turn up at 2.30pm on Saturday to be told we’re not serving anymore food. The board states lunch until 3pm and open until 5pm. What’s the point in advertising those times if you’re not actually serving food until 3pm. We were also not asked if we just wanted coffee and cake so went elsewhere. Not very good customer service unfortunately. I have eaten here before and the food is lovely so that is not my gripe. I’ve only given 1 star because we couldn’t actually experience the food on this occasion!

Amazing coffee and homemade biscuit on side on saucer. Views watching aeroplanes. Their food is outstanding

Chosen as perfectly spaced tea stop on our journey. Lovely staff, cup of tea and carrot cake! Comfortable seats, clean and socially distanced. We will return. Highly recommended!

The food and service is very good, although I wasn’t allowed to buy anything hot to eat outside! The rules against being able to buy hot food and eat it outside are ridiculous! Also, no bacon sandwich after breakfast? Very rigid rules that are quite rudely delivered with almost indignation! Actually only one hot food item available and not allowed to eat it in the outside seating area. The place wasn’t that busy either mid morning on a Wednesday. I just had a cup of coffee and went elsewhere for food. It’s a shame because we cycle past quite often and would have enjoyed sitting outside and eating the food which apparently is very good! Plenty of other places for us to go though I suppose!

Phoned to book a table for 4 adults and 2 toddlers yesterday as it was my Dads birthday. We were actually in town looking at other cafes at the the time however the girl that answered asked if we wanted food and said that was fine but to come straight away. I did explain we were in town but we would pack up and head straight over (which we did) - she said this was fine. Absolutely no mention of food service stopping on the phone. We arrived 20/25 minutes later at 2.57 to be told we couldn’t have food and it was only cake/coffees as they stopped at 3. I had 2 children under 2 with me, we’d travelled through those awful roadworks to be told no food. The lady telling us was quite abrupt and said we’d been told on the phone food service was ending at 3 (we hadn’t - we wouldn’t have gone there if we’d been told that!). My sister, her partner and toddler had also turned up assuming they’d accommodate an extra 3 (which the girl on the counter had said was fine when we arrived) however we were still told no food.We left and went back in to town as they clearly didn’t want our custom. Disappointing as it does look like a nice cafe and somewhere my dad has wanted to try for a while however after our experience, being made to feel like they were doing us a favour letting us in, and their lack of customer service skills we won’t be back.

Having been here many times we will not be doing any more after the hospitality we received the other day.We called in on a last minute detour as we have done so many times before only to be refused service for not booking, although there was stool seating by the door and tables outside free we were not allowed to stay, we weren’t even offered take out, and the way we were spoken to like we were being told off for not booking and was told we can’t come anymore without booking was most disappointing. The irony of flying in and not being able to get food at the Apron cafe !However, not to worry as we managed to get a ride just up the road to the lovely Thaymar ice cream and tearoom where we had a lovely meal and service. So next time we will definitely remember to book, but it will be a taxi we will be booking to take us to Thaymar !!

Superb Sunday lunch -beef was tender and very tasty -beautiful selection of veg and roasties to die for ! The cobbler is on another level too. For the price this place is hard to beat-a hidden jemmy. Booking is essential tho -with only 12 tables its a must ! Bakery has really nice breads and cakes for sale too . This has to be tried if your near !
