Boating at Cliveden

Went boating for my birthday and the environment has a very tranquil vibe and the boats are dog-friendly!

The most brilliant experience of an overall superb time at Cliveden. The vintage boats are spectacularly beautiful, and this section of the river is clean, quiet and gives a view of glorious countryside and wildlife - we saw herons, red kites, coots, moorhens and swans. Seeing Cliveden House coming into view on the way back was quite something.

Good selection of motor, and manual boats. We took out a row boat for an hr at a cost of £25. Row boats can take 3 people. If you want to take more then I think the motor boat can take 5 or 6. We booked online. Quick and easy to do so. However you do need to pay for entry into the Cliveden house national trust. We are members.good view of t house from the river.

Easy booking online. A brief safety briefing and general overview of which route to take. A handy booklet on the boat with a map of the route and extra information about boating. Book the self drive electric boat which was easy to drive and steer. From the car park to the river is a walk of 30 minutes down 177 steps or ask at the car park for the free shuttle car for the less mobile members of the group. A lovely boat ride with fabulous views.

Skippered boat cruise excellent value, fascinating history and so peaceful. Highly recommended.

Boating at Cliveden was truly excellent and good value for money. You don't need to be a National Trust Member but it helps. The staff are wonderful and made booking and amending bookings for a birthday surprise so easy. Nothing was too much trouble. The Boats are really nice and easy to handle. Electric driven, they hold 5 people and have comfortable padded seating with a table in the middle and a waterproof awning to pull up and over if rain appears. I recommend a minimum of 2 hours to enjoy the river and stop for picnic lunch. We needed wheelchair access and that was readily made available even though parking is severely limited at the Boathouse. There are picnic tables available while you wait near the Boathouse and there is an ice cream concession as well as toilets. Bring your own food and drink or buy at the NT cafe before walking down to the Boathouse and you'll have a great day out!

Fab trip. Leo, our captain, was informative, friendly and helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed the river cruise. Leo was also helpful to the canoeists who were struggling with the current, giving them good advise. He also manoeuvred the boat skillfully when a long narrow canal boat came out of a siding and blocked the whole river for several minutes. Would definitely recommend the trip. Leo also on our arrival back, sorted a minibus ride back to the car park, as my husband has to use a walking stick due to back issues, this was much appreciated. It was our wedding anniversary and the boat trip made the day. Thank you Leo.

We booked online for a 45 minute skippered boat ride with Gary. He was friendly, informative and brilliant with the 2 children on the trip. He was knowledgeable of everything along the route and let the children skipper the boat for a stretch of our journey, which they absolutely loved. Would highly recommend.

Cliveden has always been an exceptional part of the National Trust catalogue. Bringing first-class boat hire into its facilities has transformed its Riverside area. With new catering and toilet facilities this idyllic part of the grounds and gardens makes this an essential must-do" of the day's activities. It just keeps getting better."
