The Dark Horse Espresso Bar South Bank
Popped in for a coffee in this newly opened cafe on Bishopthorpe Road. Great for the local community and good enough to drag people away from Bishy High Street.Had a look at the menu out of curiosity and unfortunately found prices to be a little on the high side.Service was very good, lovely outdoor seating on a warm day and great for people watching. Coffee was excellent - well done!

As a resident of South Bank, this wonderful new espresso bar is a welcome addition to the area and is far too conveniently close ! I'm becoming a regular; totally addicted to their superb coffee and terrific toasties, served by friendly staff in elegant surroundings, sometimes al fresco !! What's not to like ??

We always have a great coffee here, the staff are lovely, and food when we’ve had it has been really tasty. The decaf actually tastes like really beautiful coffee which is such a change from the chains and such a treat. Garden great for dogs, but could maybe do with a shelter for rainy days. 100% recommend.

The Dark Horse Coffee Shop on Tadcaster Road in York is a lovely place to drink and unwind. The food is great, the staff are friendly and welcoming, and the location is perfect for a relaxing break.I've been to The Dark Horse a few times now, and I've always been impressed by the quality of the coffee and food. The coffee is made with fresh, high-quality beans, and the food is freshly prepared using seasonal ingredients. I particularly recommend the avocado toast and the banana bread.The staff at The Dark Horse are always friendly and helpful. They're happy to chat and recommend drinks and food, and they always go the extra mile to make sure you have a good experience.The location of The Dark Horse is another plus point. It's just outside of the city centre, so it's a bit more peaceful than some of the other coffee shops in York. There's also a lovely outdoor seating area, which is perfect for enjoying a coffee or lunch on a sunny day.Overall, I highly recommend The Dark Horse Coffee Shop. It's a great place to go for a delicious coffee, some good food, and a friendly atmosphere.

Amazing coffee, must be one of the best in York! My partner and I had a toasted sandwich each; amazing bread and fillings. Wonderful staff, great service, we'll definitely be back:)

A fantastic coffee shop that brings a welcome addition to Bishy Road! We came on the Sunday morning and it was busy with customers! Dogs are welcome in the outdoor seating area. The coffee and sourdough toasts were delicious! Will return again soon!!

Have been looking forward to trying this new coffee shop on Bishy road. My wife and I stopped for a take away coffee on a Sunday lunch time. The food looks delicious. This is obviously going to be a popular spot given how busy it was. It’s newly opened so I think the team are still finding their feet. The person making the drinks seemed overwhelmed and with only one coffee machine and a small kitchen it all seemed chaotic given the number of customers. For some sandwich items they had run out of food. Our coffee took 10mins to make and after all that was lukewarm . We’d already left so didn’t go back to say anything. Let’s put it down to an off day, it happens! We’ll definitely try again and i am sure next time will be a five star review.

Enjoyed a 10/10 french onion toastie and chimichurri and parmesan fries with a delicious cappuccino. Despite being a very busy Saturday afternoon, staff were welcoming and we were served relatively quickly. Thoroughly enjoyed our lunch and can't wait to come back. Delicious!

Fabulous food and drink! The coffee is full of flavour and I cannot remember the last time I had a toasted sandwich as good as theirs. Highly recommended.
