We only went for dinner as we were staying in sister hotel Mansfield House. The dinner was overpriced for quality and quantity of food. The service was great however.

Recently stayed two nights with them on a business trip. The hotel is based around an old country hose and as such has high ceilinged large rooms. On arrival on Sunday the room was warm due to the heating being on for some time but once the heating switched off at about ten, it soon became cold. My bedroom also had a large bay window which added to the problem. The following morning the heating didn’t come on until 7.15am which is far too late as the bathroom had a tiled floor. The overall temperature of room and bathroom must have been about 15 degrees which meant an uncomfortable experience getting ready for the day ahead. Spoke with reception who said they would look into it. It was even mentioned to me when I retrieved my key for the second night that the timings had be altered but they hadn’t. I was given a small electric radiator which helped a little bit overall a cold experience.

To be totally honest just went here for some Sunday lunch, was very disappointed definitely won't be back in a hurry, best part of it was the soup and the roast was very poor, the 3 roast tatties were rock hard, no mash with it, beef was chewy, staff didn't know how to smile, wouldn't recommend this place.

We had originally booked into the sister hotel (Mansfield Castle), but due to renovations (seems to be an on going issue) we were moved to this hotel. The hotel is a bit tired, and stuck ion the 90's, it would have been amazing to have seen it in its prime. The rooms are dated as well, however ours was really clean and everything seemed to work and be in good order. The staff were also really friendly and helpful.

Sadly, its in very real need of an upgrade in terms of decor, facilities, rooms and food. We were moved here from another hotel for 2 nights, but didn't stay for the 2nd. Was cheap compared to other hotels in the area, but I'm afraid you get what you pay for. Has clearly been a quality hotel in the past, but now very basic in all respects.

Fantastic Sunday carvery lunch. We saw the sign as we were doing the NC500 in a motorhome. The lunch was excellent … choose from three meats and all the trimmings, soup to start, and dessert. We sat in the bar area which was lovely and comfortable. The owner was friendly and came over to see we were all ok. The staff were all pleasant and knew their job. A well stocked bar. The carpark was neat and large … enough to park our motorhome. Well priced (June 2023) … around £19 adults and £9 children, excluding drinks.

We have had a one night stay there. Spacious rooms, bathroom with window. Mattress was not to our liking as too soft to sleep well. Included breakfast was very good. Dinner was also good. We come here to visit the Distillery in the near. We just found the stay pricy.

In general it seems that this has been a nice hotel but it has seen its best days. So rooms are really old. TV is super tiny and simply put on the table with cables hanging down. In the old bath room there is neither a blow dryer nor a toilet brush. To my humble opinion this should be standard for a hotel with 4 stars. However, cooked breakfast was nice and the service at the bar was good. Unfortunatly the lady at the front desk didn't even bother to have a look when we left. I would not recommend this hotel.
