I was recently awarded my first Art Commission with the NHS, the work is hanging in The Royal Hospital in Liverpool and is in a Pre Operation waiting area. I was very excited about getting this commission and as it was my first I wanted it to be perfect. It was recommended to me to use the framers House of Bystander in Chorlton as the NHS had worked with this 'artist' before so I was told he would be as much as a perfectionist as I am. This job lot was a striking £1,320 in total that the NHS paid for. When I came to collect the work (which the date had been discussed face to face with the owner as he informed me he was on holiday at that time but as I brought the prints 1 month before my deadline this was no problem) which consisted of 8 large panoramic and 8 square pieces they were not packed and actually an assistant had to go into the workshop and dig the work out where there was old cups of coffee just next to all the work! I then had to wrap it all myself and while doing so I noticed A, several of the frames were chipped and damaged B, many of the mounts had finger print marks on them and C, one of my main prints was scratched in 3 different places bearing in mind these prints cost £70 each! and D, one piece was totally missing! Now if they were 'snowed under' with work and they were there to give their apologies we might think ok but NO, he was on holiday knowing full well I was collecting the work on the day I had to install it at the hospital and I had to get it from Chorlton to Liverpool. The assistant actually said well he is a single dad" my reply was "well I don't need the hassle or lack of care not that that has anything to do with his work!" I have written to Jack several times and just been fobbed off. I can not express how upset I have been with the total lack of care of the work and the even more so lack of customer care. The whole experience has been disgraceful with no attempt to rectify the issues and when I suggested he framed one or two of the 8 prints I have created to go to a fund raising event for the NHS Charity Trust I essentially got laughed at. He did suggest that I take the scratched print work down and he would re frame but obviously I would have to pay for the re print plus getting it back from Liverpool to Chorlton and back to Liverpool again would all be at my costing too!!! That is why I asked him to frame two small prints for the charity pictures but he said NO. Then he has suddenly come back with "It cost me over £1

I chose to have a large picture wall hanging framed in neon pink. Jack was very informative and showed me lots of examples as well as the glass they use in frames that don’t show up any reflection ( something I would never have considered ) Absolutely pleased with the service and even more pleased when we came to collect it. It looks amazing up and obviously the frame looks so good as everyone thought it was a crazy idea neon pink “ However it adds punch to what would have been an ordinary dining room to an good conversation piece.Thank Jack at HOB.

Great bespoke service with lots of different options for colour or frames, mounts and inserts. Really happy

Jack made a bespoke picture from photos of our wedding day. He did an excellent job and clearly put in a lot of care and attention to make it just right. He is very professional and easy to get on with.We have also bought a couple of other framed photos from his shop. We love his work and will definitely be going back for more in future! The House of Bystander is one of the highlights on Beech road!

I wouldn't use the framing service again and wouldn't recommend their services. Customer service needs addressing. Plenty of other places for framing in the area which I would recommend - place on lapwing lane or framers opposite unicorn in Chorlton.

Jack produced an amazing collage for my brothers 50th birthday made up of a multitude of bits and pieces from his life.It is a stunning piece of artwork and Jack made sure it was ready with a short deadline.Jack is an extremely talented, detailed craftsman that listens to what is important to you and I would highly recommend his work to anyoneI will be back!

I've now had numerous frames made by Jack. He always provides a professional service, great advice and the frames are really well made and built to last.
