Langley Grammar School
A really bad school that just prioritises grades over mental health. Teachers are always ready to jump on the students for the tiniest of the mistakes. Children can not properly communicate with teachers if they have a problem. Teachers are very harsh and humiliating

My son currently attends this school and I have another son in another Grammar school in Slough. I can compare both schools and can honest say Langley Grammar has a longway to go match the education standards expected of a Grammar school or the other grammar schools in slough.Langley lacks in many areas for example in school trips and Duke of Edinburgh programme; but not every child gets the opportunity to attend and is decided on a ballot basis. As a result not every child gets to rip the benefits presented to them. Teaching lacks specially in Scienses. English, and Maths. For English they follow the Welsh Board specification (Very Difficult to follow since Wales/England specification paper differ) and last year GCSE results in English dropped, while all other schools in Slough follow England examining boards.Preparation for class test and class assesement is usually rushed and parents do not get to see class test papers the children do in class (School policy) therefore not possible for parents identify problem areas. As a result children do not perform to their ability and many parents are forced to pay for private tuition to ensure children performs to their ability which they are capable of. Therefore school national results are significant BOOSTED by parents determination, and literary parents carry the school in many subjects areas. Children not always know where class tests or exam are taken place. Maths and Sciense teaching do not follow standard handbooks but teachers hand topic papercopies instead. As a result is difficult to check if all topics have been covered in the syllabus. In fact the last couple of years GCSE exmanination results (5 xGCSE including, Maths snf English) have been falling. Therefore be prepared to pay for extra private tuition if you want your child to achive results expected of a grammar school.

My Son, Leo is unhappy at this school and feels he cant talk to the teachers about his worries. He tells me gets beaten up by people but they scare him and tell him not to snitch so teachers never find out. I am appaled by the staff in this school. Some of the staff treat children like trash. Boa Hancock is the worst teacher.

This is not a school educational review but the way the school performs externally in management . Dropped my son for his 11+ exam in the school this noon and the schools management was terrible and extremely disorganised. Parents n kids were bumping into each other as the exit and entry gates were same with almost similar timings . No designated lines or areas for pick up and drop. If the school is this disorganised I’m certain that Langley grammar is not going to be on my list

Let me be honest, this school is light years beyond other slough and Eton grammar schools. The teachers employed are smart and have good intentions to help the students learn and progress (well most of them). Most of the students are kind and welcoming, but outside of school in the bus and such can be trouble, particularly year 9s. There is one problem though. The school needs to learn the difference between petty conflicts and big problems. A student being shoved is not a life-ending problem and neither is name calling - it can be resolved between students with slight teaching assistance if necessary. Big problems are if there are fights and weapons being brought into school. I have actually noticed this happening and this should be talked more about in assemblies rather than particular kids being aimed at for petty mistakes. There is one child in the current Year 9 batch I find rotten but it would be disrespectful to compare him to rats - disrespectful to the rats in my opinion. Well that’s all to say but if you want to send your child to a grammar school in the slough area, I’d reccomend Langley or Burnham , if not, then St Bernard’s or Herschel. Never Upton Court!Wishes,aNoNyMoUs

We went to see this school in October 2020. We were so impressed the way we were attended by Headteacher Mr Constable.I can anticipate that my child will be happy in this school.

The school itself is actually shocking, the manner in which it is run is poor and unsatisfactory. In conjunction with this, the students make the school, they are the life and soul of the place. Without them the school would be nothing. Langley seriously needs to start appreciating its students more and also needs to fix its manor in which it treats students.

Everyone has their own experiences with all sorts of things in life. When it comes to Langley Grammar School, I would say it is neither the best school on planet nor the worst. But definitely one of the top schools in Berkshire and surrounding areas. Students as far as Hounslow and further areas travel to Grammar schools in Slough. One has to look from broader prospective. There will be some issues when it comes to managing a school with 1200+ students. You need to have positive attitude and try and sort out any issues with school rather than just passing negative comments. It will be good not only for your child but also for school as things will improve and in yhis process other students too will benifit. Overall I would rate 5* to this school, the way they managed through pandemic with minimal distrupt to students educational progress. No wonder Ofsted has rated this school Outstanding.

I have my son in year 7 batch, unfortunately had many many supply teachers for maths, though I understand the national crisis of retaining teachers, and HW wasn't set for many weeks. Having said that rest most of the teachers such as Mr Worboys in particular has been very approachable and helpful. So in nutshell i am quite happy and would recommend this school to anyone.
