The Wheatsheaf
Stayed for 2 nights, room was nice, very quiet, huge wide bed but too short for tall folks.Good breakfast selection, my only complaint being they serve instant coffee (yuk) from a thermos, or you have to pay extra for real coffee! Not being a tea drinker, this spoiled my breakfast experience somewhat - I have never stayed anywhere else where they do this.Restaurant is pleasant, I was in a party of 6, and everyone enjoyed their food.

This review is for the pub/food as I didn’t stay at the hotel. Food was excellent and reasonably priced for the quality. The service was even better, a lovely lady called Donna served me and my girlfriend and brought over a muffin with a candle in to celebrate my girlfriends birthday. Will definitely be visiting again.

Stayed in a damp room at the end of the corridor. Didn't seem to have had fresh air in it for a long time. Mold on the net curtains and an extractor fan that sounded like a jet engine taking off. The court yard is shabby and needs attention, along with the rooms. However, the pub is actually pretty decent. Service at dinner was good and the food was all okay. Not a place for a 5* meal but we weren't disappointed.A decent place to stop off on the M3.

An overnight stay at The Wheatsheaf on our way to Heathrow Airport seemed like a good idea. And it turned out to be an excellent idea! The team that greeted us were friendly and professional and we felt welcomed and comfortable straight away. The first thing we noticed though, was the smell - which was heavenly! No, really, it was! The hotel smelled like fresh hyacinths or fuchsias or roses or something. I don't really know what the flower scent was but it was wonderful. If I could have my home filled with that scent I would be a very happy bunny. The room was fine, the standard hotel double room and bathroom. And it was very clean which is extremely important in my book. Our room was on the ground floor in the newer part of the building with easy access for wheelchairs. We went through a little corridor straight into the pub but there was no problem with noise in our room. We had a very nice meal from a good menu and, again, the team were smiley, efficient and professional. We think that they had been well trained. The pub has a great ambiance as you would hope from a historic coaching inn. It was well decorated with quirky items which were well curated. The bed was very comfortable and we slept well. The price for the overall stay was very competitive and very good value. We definitely recommend it!

Just had food. Been here before and that was good. This time round food was sub par. My steak was a terrible cut.Chips for all the meals were mediocre at best.Chicken burgers were good tho.Service again is ok, a bit forced. It's good if your passing by but in general it's nothing to write home about.

Recently spent a couple of nights there in order to attend a wedding ceremony. Convenient location very nice large room although could have done with heated towel rail in bathroom. For the price it was very good value.

Nice out of town location, rustic decor and good selection of food and drink on offer. We stayed in the accommodation which was clean and well arranged. Only comment is that it would have been good to get a discount on breakfast when staying here. It was too much for a family of 4 with children (£50+ with drinks) so we left to find a much more economic alternative.

My girlfriend and I just went for a meal, fast friendly service, we both chose a gin cocktail to drink, which was delicious and ordered our meals, Seabass & Scalop meal and Beef & Ale pure meal. Both came up surprisingly fast and were delicious again, we were quite early which was probably why it was quick but we have absolutely no negative comments. We were very happy with everything.

Booked in for Sunday lunch 3/9/23 with my wife. The restaurant was sunny and bright and without background music. I had Sea Bass and Scallops on Risotto. The Sea Bass was beautifully cooked with a crisp skin while the Scallops were tender and sweet. The risotto was delicious and a worthy accompaniment. The dessert of apple tart and ice cream was a delight. Full marks for everything. We shall come again

Had a family celebration Sunday lunch which everyone enjoyed. Good choices on the menu, you don't have to go for a roast. I particularly liked that you could have half a pud with your choice of tea or coffee. All in all a good experience. We didn't stay so can't comment on the rooms.
