I’ve been taking driving lessons from Paul Scotney from This is Driving for the past 18 months (I had a test booked 6 months ago but his car had a mechanical problem which meant that I had to re-book). I have just passed my test on my first attempt with 2 minor faults.Paul’s instruction is always clear, concise and effective. He’s a very understanding and thoughtful person, so just right for a driving instructor. His criticisms are always fair, and I improved very quickly under his instruction and guidance. His method is very practical, as he always used real-time examples in lessons to help illustrate trickier points and concepts.Overall, I would definitely recommend This Is Driving to anyone in Nottingham or the surrounding areas who wishes to learn how to drive, or improve their driving. 5 stars.

My driving instructor was Paul and he was absolutely fabulous. He really helped improve my confidence behind the wheel, after a few push backs, and within 3 months of lessons with him, I had passed my driving test! I would definitely recommend to anyone :)

Paul Scotney. Never ever going to forget that name! If you’re looking to take driving lessons in nottingham look no further. There is something with this guy, i promise you he will make you feel like you are the best driver on the road! He’s so understanding, enthusiastic, patient you can tell he genuinely loves being a part of his pupils driving journey. In my personal driving experience with Paul even when i was doubting myself he never once second guessed my driving ability and respectably finds a way to restore confidence. Before i started taking lessons, Paul called me just for a quick chat asking about myself and my previous driving experience, as soon as that call ended i had a gut feeling i got my hands on a proper driving instructor. I’m so happy Paul was able to see my progress as every moment shared in the car with him. When i took my driving test there was not a road that i haven’t driven on before he’s got you covered i promise! Haven’t got a single bad thing to say about Paul he’s a top guy. By now i’m assuming you stopped reading and made enquiry, if you not don’t waste any more time. Unfortunately stars are capped at 5 would be more honestly!

I passed first time with Paul and couldn't recommend him highly enough. I was fairly late to driving and always felt like it was something 'other people' did and something I would never be able to do. Paul made me feel capable and confident. He's professional, reliable and shows genuine passion for your advancement. He's an all round lovely, funny human and I looked forward to every lesson.

Paul was an absolute legend. Ensured he found out about how I liked to learn early on. Really good communication throughout and lessons seemed to fly by. Really enjoyable experience and would definitely recommend to anyone looking to learn how to drive.

Paul is an absolutely fantastic instructor who I would recommend very highly. I found all the lessons to be paced perfectly, well organised and crammed full of new learning. At the same time, they were very chilled which really helped to build my confidence on the roads. Paul certainly goes the extra mile and helps you think about driving long after you have passed your test. I have found this to be extremely invaluable! I passed first time which is a real testament to his skill and expertise as a teacher.

I passed my test first time due to excellent teaching from Paul Scotney. He explained everything in a way that could be understood easily and listened to my thoughts. He also makes the lessons interesting and is someone who is very easy to get along with so a lesson is never boring. I broke my collarbone partway through my lessons so I had to stop for over a month whilst it healed, and when I could drive again I got right back into the lessons with Paul who helped build my confidence in my driving back up again.I also did the Pass Plus driving with him and recommend him and This is Driving to anyone not only looking to pass their test first time, but also to become the best driver they can be.

After getting in contact with This Is Driving, I was on the road really quickly. My instructor Paul was brilliant - he was patient, motivating and funny! He showed a real passion for teaching and engaged me when planning lessons - he gave me the opportunity to practice the things I wanted/needed to, which gave me a lot of confidence. I think he recognised fairly quickly that I needed to build confidence; it was wonderful having an instructor who made an effort to understand how I operated and used that knowledge to figure out how he could help me.I passed first time and would recommend This Is Driving to anyone wanting to learn! :)

Honestly if you're looking for an instructor who will help you pass first time, Paul is the man to see. Paul makes you look forward to every single lesson and makes your experience on the road enjoyable. Not only does he explain everything thoroughly but he also explains it in such a simple way that just clicks within you. If you are up for a debate and up want to express your own thoughts about driving, Scotney always listens and that’s what makes him stand out from others. It has been a great pleasure getting taught by him and I would highly recommend him to anyone who wants to get behind the wheel.I know you see this Scotney and I thank you.-Mr T
