Fabulous gardens for all ages and quiet little nooks for kids to explore. Wonderful cafe - hot chocolate was amazing! Loads of owls and other birds and animals. 4 stars as the owl display advertised wasn’t on/we couldn’t find it and the house itself you could only see a few rooms without a private tour which wasn’t happening that day. But still a fabulous day out.

Well done area and easy to Navigate. Beautiful gardens and sitting areas are common for those who need to sit. Food was midrange pricing but generous eg it says salad and crisps but you also get pasta, red beans etc. Ice-cream also very tasty. Went to see the owl-centred zoo there and impressed at the variety of animals, which all look in good condition. Also saw the 3pm Owl show, which was very informative and allows you to have the owls fly over you! However, only giving 4 rather than 5 due to the amount of wasps around the eating areas; could not go a minute without having to wave some away from mine and my family’s faces, even when we weren’t yet eating. It appears there are currently no deterrents or traps to sort the wasp problem either. Nevertheless, still a very pleasant experience and spent several entertaining hours here; A great day out.

A fine 13th century castle which was converted into a stately home in the 18th century. Tours are available of the well preserved interior of the castle. The best feature of the whole site are the gardens - they are stunning. There is also the secret owl garden with its display of owls and exotic birds - there are scheduled flying displays too. Not the cheapest day out - adults were £14 when we visited in July 23 - but we’ll worth it.

The owl experience and children's activities were what brought us here. The grounds, castle, and antique lawnmower exhibit were an added bonus for the adults. We were not disappointed. The gentleman leading the owl flyover experience was very knowledgeable. He presented things simply and added humor to engage the children and keep their attention. Both were much appreciated. Certainly worth the cost of admission. The Jungle Boardwalk and play area were enjoyable, overall. Some of the plantings in this discovery area were not to my liking. Tall, bushy razor-like grass is beautiful in curated gardens, but not in areas of play; especially when one is forced to interact with it to complete the boardwalk journey. A few too many paper cuts" were had while walking the boardwalk; adults and children alike.Parking is abundant and well-shaded."

Great day out. The gardens are huge and will take all day if you want to see it all. SO many different hydrangeas!!! Lots of trails to follow and avoid the busier areas if you want to.The house is lovely and the staff are very knowledgeable and friendly. You can buy some good quality plants as well as the normal stuff. The owl show was a bonus, very popular with the kids.

Beautiful grounds and a great place to bring kids. Plenty for the little ones to do and the mini zoo has bird and reptile talks. Restaurant a bit on the pricey side but it is very good quality and made fresh. Spend over 4 hours here and would have stayed longer if not for the weather turning

Picton Castle Gardens is a lovely little day out for the family, yourself, or couples. While there, we walked the gardens, learnt about lots of plants, visited the castle itself, and learnt about the history of the grounds. Oh, and visited the Owl Garden & Zoo.Things to note:• Not many bins at all, had to carry our coffee cups most the way round.• Children may get bored easily.• Would more recommend for adults/couples.• Guided tours of the castle closed until September (informed by castle staff).Overall, absolutely beautiful, well maintained gardens. Wish we would have visited on a sunnier day, but you can’t control the weather!

Magical place. We visited it two days in a row. I took the Dogs for an exploration whilst the others did the Escape Room on both days. Even with that hour window each day, the Dogs and I had plenty to explore while the others did Spy School on day one and The Time Machine on day two.Visiting areas like The Dew Pond was lovely, we sat and took in the ambience of the place, very tranquil. The Jungle was fun, walking the planks around there was great.Love the Walled Garden. Had a Coffee and Tea respectively there ,the chap that runs the Tea Shop there was really nice.Picton Castle is a place we fully intend to visit again, to be honest I'm counting the days.....can't wait.

Came for the owl sanctuary but also did a tour of the castle. The tour guide was really friendly and the tour was so informative! The owl sanctuary was lovely and had lots of different animals (not just owls), and you can attend some displays/feedings which is very cool. I’d definitely go back!

We had a lovely day out. There was a lot to see and the animal displays were very interesting. My son had a lovely time. It was also pretty accessible for a wheelchair with only a couple of the routes notes as unsuitable. We didn't get to explore it all as we had to head off elsewhere but I suspect we will return.
