Interesting place with so much more potential to offer, if only if it were managed correctly by the authorities. Here today the the Abbey ruins what still remain lay mostly hidden underground, what is visible is just the tip of the iceberg. The 13th century landmark is almost a secret by nature, in the way of very little publicity about the place. Great shame, because the Abbey is of historical value not only to Stoke on Trent but namesake Abbey Hilton area.Still a cool mystical site to stroll around and to conjure up a bygone era

Such an evocative gem of our cultural heritage deserves more telling care by the City Council. Discarded stone blocks from the original structure continue to lie forlornly in the long grass and I never fail to visit without gathering up considerable amounts of litter (that I realise the council is not primarily responsible for). I do think though that much more could be made of it.

It is a rare treat to find tangible evidence of a 13th century abbey in the middle of a suburb, and although there is little to show for this one, it is worth seeing just to take a moment to imagine what must have once stood on the site. There are some wall ruins, but it's likely there are many more remnants somewhere beneath the area, if only the money and interest existed to mount an archaeological dig. Certainly an important milestone when it comes to the history of the area, and with an off-road car park right beside it, and walks in the area, it is worth a short visit.

Small information boards give overviews of the remains of the abbey. A good place for children to run around for half an hour.

Ruins not huge and it looks as though an information Board is missing which is a pity. There is a little walk around the ruins but very muddy and slippery.

The council have let this place go to the dogs... fly tipping all over the place. drug dealing going on in the car park. Terrible!.. this is a scheduled monument which Stoke on Trent council decided to pick pieces of the abbey up which were coming lose and throw then down the bank just in front of the car park.. ( they are still there if you want to go and see them ) this kind of thing should be illegal.. English heritage should get involved here as this is an outrage..

I had a walk along the canal between Abbey Hulton and Birches Head.Very pleasant and quiet. Sadly some litter about, but lovely to see lots of bluebells and hear all the birdsong. Nice views across the fields towards Abbey Hulton

Interesting place to visit as I live nearby. Such a shame this is no information board at all there. It would have been good to know when it was built, when it was last used and a plan of what remains and maybe an illustration of what it would have looked like.Good that there is a clean and solid bench so that you can sit and view it. There is free parking next to it. But an information board would have made the visit more interesting.
