The Prebendal Manor
We reserved the BNB in the Prebendal Manor. The Prebendal Manor is an 800 year old building dating back to 1230 with many historical connections. Originally owned by Lincoln Cathedral .The host Jane showed us around and introduced the history to us.It’s a great experience to live in an old Prebendal Manor.

This is only open to the public by appointment, you can't just walk in! Apparently the owners have been asking for the brown tourist signs to be removed in order to stop people just dropping by (it is a private residence) but the signs have not been taken down.3 stars given as I was unable to go inside due to the above.

The House isn't usually open to the public but was open as part of the Heritage Open Days. It was an excellent opportunity to have a look around the house as the owner herself led us round on a tour. A house full of history over the ages and grounds to match it. A pleasant afternoon outing.

Didn't get chance to look round manor as tours were all full but a lovely property with some lovely old fruit trees and nice little garden to walk around.

So much to see in such a small space - it's wonderful! In occupation from King Cnut's time to present day (this is still someone's home!) - with a focus on demonstrating aspects of medieval life - including herb and medicinal garden, vines, a leafily covered walkway, and a labyrinth in the grass for contemplation, this is a beautiful, friendly place to visit. The barn with café, costumes, musical instruments and more has lots to appeal to younger visitors especially.

Very interesting place to visit. Amazing to think King Canute also visited. The house has undergone many changes over it's life time but the present owners have a passion for history and have worked hard learn more about it's story. We also enjoyed some excellent cakes in the barn.

We actually stayed in The Lodgings, lovely setting. We were greeted with bread & milk. would have liked a clothes rail or wardrobe to hang clothes as we were attending a wedding & one hook wasn't enough, otherwise perfectly satisfied.

Fabulous. We stayed in the very characterful bedroom. The house and gardens are so full of history. Jane was a great host and extremely knowledgeable. I would thoroughly recommend going. And watch Time Team series 11 ep 11.

The manor house is most interesting as it embodies medieaval features along with Georgian additions. The Prebendal Manor is supposed to be the largest re-creation of a Medieval garden in Europe.
