The Duke of Cornwall Hotel
This hotel is undergoing some external work with lots of scaffolding. The best way to describe The Duke of Cornwall is a throwback to Faulty Towers and the Shining. I do hope the interiors have a massive renovation. The room I had is so dated, and the furniture chipped. Bed was comfortable. Breakfast was good, poached eggs were perfectly cooked. Service good too.

Absolutely stunning hotel. The staff are kind, welcoming & attentive. The room was huge & the bed could sleep 5 people. Traditional classy authentic hotel. The breakfast was delicious & portion size was huge. 5 minute walk from the beach. Amazing place highly recommend

We booked a basic room and... OMG... it was huge! Beautiful decor and spotlessly clean. Staff were very friendly and helpful when we accidentally left an item of jewellery behind. We'll book again, hopefully we'll stay longer so we can enjoy the hospitality and see more of the area.

Its a beautiful building. Not very disabled friendly I'm a wheelchair user and wasn't able to access the front of the hotel due to Steps from street, and steps in hotel reception.I had to access hotel via steep climb to carpark and across a ramp. Our room was very dated as you'd expect, curtains not on hooks, we tried to hang them but there were no available hooks,Chair legs very wobbly, i had to swap with another from public area. Bed was very uncomfortable, we had a twin bed room so i had a different bed each night it was so bad we got up and departed at 4am. check your bed before bedtime. We ate in the restaurant it wasn't anything special. Its ashame it could of be a fabulous experience, We won't return. I must add the young lady on the reception desk was very helpful. The parking is not promised, but there is on road parking free to disabled users.

I have been staying at the Duke of Cornwall and other hotels in Plymouth for many years. I always prefer the Duke of Cornwall for it's service. Everytime I stay, they service from the staff on the front desk has been exemplary. They go out of their way to accomodate my needs and make the difference to my stay, which is why this hotel is my first choice. The hotel is old and very grand. There may be a slightly rickety lift and may be a bit of peeling wallpaper in the very high ceiling rooms - however that sort of thing doesn't bother me and I think adds to it's charm.the rooms are very generous, the beds are comfortable and the facilities are good.I have had breakfast a couple of times and wanted more continental options, so now I just tend to pick something up from the cafe next door.I recommend this hotel.

A nice hotel, having a little work done on the outside. A lot of history comes with this hotel, hence the naming of the rooms. I think more could be made of this, with reading material available for anyone to update themselves. Good location for me, friendly staff who sometimes disappear if it's quiet (had to search for the bar person twice). Rooms comfortable, a little warm by a window open assisted .

Really liked the hotel, with its oldy world charm but with the modern conveniences you would expect. Felt very up market with its chandelier and find classic architecture with interior to match. The evening meal was fine dining, and the breakfast was also part table service. The staff were very accommodating and knowledgeable when asked about gluten intolence and made reasonable changes so all party members could enjoy the experience.I will definitely be returning as it is very convenient to the Plymouth pavilion when visiting for shows.

The place looks better after the refurb. Unfortunately the service at the bars was lacking any customer service skills. Very moody and no smile the whole night from the bar staff. Limited choice of alcohol. It has a lot of potential given the location but a new vibe needs to be inserted in the place. Improvement needs to be done in the period features of the building so that they align with a good customer satisfaction

We had a splendid weekend at the Dukes. Learning about the history of the hotel and how it survived two world wars in the nation’s oceans city was captivating. The hotel staffers were amazing as they made us feel at home even helping with our little one when we have dinners. Claire, Kacey and Carly were exceptional. The breakfast and dinner were on point. We would definitely come back.
