The Meadows

Student halls in good condition and well managed with lovely staff, just tends to be BOILING all of the time which is great for winter. Just bear in mind if you're a mature student or you have a car that you won't be able to park on the road where you live and you'll only be able to get your post during the times you're meant to be in class. Oh and the Amazon locker is based in a shop that has not been open for about a year so good luck with that too.Don't forget, especially if your room/window overlooks the big pond out back, you won't be able to open your window without being eaten to death by mosquitos. Oh and icing on the cake - the Meadows is down wind from the sewage treatment plant so it (and the whole of campus) regularly smells of sewage.Other than that, it's a lovely place to be :)

Lived here for about 4 months, great place to live while studying in the Essex Uni if you have good money to spend...

Nice area for students that overlooks the river Colne

I used to spend a year there. It is a improved version of the quay and south court. My room is facing the best view - the beautiful lake, which is East so it is quite hot in the morning, but it is ok becos most of the time are cold. What I hate is the noise from the trains from morning til dusk. I find a room facing North is the best direction for overall. However there is no perfect room, you choose what suits you the most. My tip is to book the room on the first day or earliest as you can so you will get high floor, otherwise you will get one on the ground floor or one near dorm entrance which is super noisy.

These are student accommodation for the University of Essex. Coste about £150 per week depending on what you get. They're more modern than the Quays (ew) and not quite up there with the Copse. They're categorically inferior to the Houses, though, because they're further away from campus. Might be preferable over South Courts because they're nicer, though. No real complaints about the place. Slightly closer to town, which is a plus.

Not the best student accommodation at the University of Essex. The staff can be very incompetent in delivering and notifying about posts and parcels. The bathrooms and showers are only cleaned once a month.However, it s the only accommodation that has double beds. Security is 24hrs which is also good.

I currently live here. The Meadows are good, with lift access and decent rooms. Only concern is, it has a bad room design, due to which the bathrooms are too tiny. Overall the room and kitchen are good, except the bathroom. My hands hit the sides every time I take bath and water splashes all over the place. They could fit a bigger bathroom in the same room size, with a better room design.

Good place to live while doing our degree in University of Essex. Hustle free visit to anywhere.

Beautiful place to live in close to the university.

The Meadows although a bit expensive are more spacious and less cramped than the Quays. Also they're quite new, so the facilities offered are pretty decent as well.That said, you'll find places in the town at the same prices, if you're willing to take a 15-20min commute everyday to uni
