‘Suncliff’ more like ‘Scumcliff’If I could give this a minus star I would! This has to be by far the worst hotel I have ever in my whole 40 years stayed in!!People please listen and read reviews! The pictures that are advertised are not what you experience when you arrive! The whole hotel needs demolishing at best! I have nothing positive to say about the building apart from its friendly staff and the location.Avoid every room!

Rooms are outdated and really need a general cleaning. Our bed is a very old mattress that makes us all sinks in one side. You can see this hotel is old and needed an upgrade.with our stay its breakfast and dinner included. If I'd book again,I will only book for breakfast. The dinner is okay but you can feel that it's a budget meal. Pro is the heated swimming pool and the shared outdoor pool in sister hotel Cumberland is good if the weather is good for it. Staff are all nice and friendly. We stayed at the backside of the hotel in the 4th floor. Elevator is awfully small. Not ideal for the buggy and is really old.

Great hotel, friendly helpful staff, pub is reasonably priced, nice food in bar. Good selection at breakfast, indoor pool lovely. Used spa next door in Ocean, very relaxing. Room 216 could do with updating furniture but ,clean and comfortable. Right on the beach and a short walk into town. Overall, a very nice weekend and will be back .

Maybe I got the worst room in hotel? I am not sure how a hotel manager or owner can justify charging £170 a night to a hotel room that is.. disgusting, outdating and the food was many days old. I have been to many hostels in the past and I safely say a hostel is in much better condition. I have also been to 3 star hotels. But with 30 year old carpets, cheap and broken cupboards, dust, cobwebs beams and skirting. Thin walls. 10 year old outdated TVs, AND black mould in bathroom floors and walls..which is illegal. Clearly unsanistised. No Aircon it's manual air con you plug in. Which is loud. I am not sure if this hotel should should be running business. Pub food was... disgusting...the salad was off...pub food. Breakfast was something you would find in a very cheap cafe. Sea views are not great either. I wouldn't recommend. Actually I would really avoid!

I’m glad I was only there for one night, otherwise I would have checked out. Cheap furnishings barely held together. I don’t think the carpets have ever been cleaned. Yucky towels, awful beds. I couldn’t wait to get out of there. The breakfast was really good at the Admiral. The beach area is beautiful. My room had a view of the parking lot in the back with the garbage.

Overall experience was alright, I would consider staying here again. However, my partner and I wanted breakfast delivered to our room. We asked multiple times throughout the 2 days we stayed for a breakfast room card for room service; but were told they didn’t have them or that they would find them later. We followed up via phone and in person and received the same reply. The receptionist that was there upon our arrival seemed judgemental and impatient, but the receptionist who completed our checkout was very friendly. You can hear everything in the rooms - people walking outside, coming up the stairs, etc. The hallways smell musty and stale and the bed was creaky and moved quite a lot. The pillows are thin, but the room was very clean. We heard housekeeping staff outside our room arguing very loudly, very unprofessional and disruptive. Saying all of this, the pool is lovely and the breakfast was nice. We had a decent stay and I might stay here again, but would consider other options first.

Brought a voucher for a 3 course meal in the Atlantic restaurant as a gift directly from the hotel, guests were seated outside of the resturaunt with poor service and the standard of food provided was not great on the night. Spoke to management about a refund and they tried to get my guests back to the hotel to make it up to them they didn't want to experience bad service again and declined.

Stayed in the single room and it was a good size with a view of the sea. The room had been well maintained and was very clean. The bed was a decent size considering it was a single. The staff were lovely and the breakfast was run well. Plenty of options for food and the pub downstairs wasn’t loud at all.

I stay here under a corporate rate, so have a single room which is okay. A bit dated in decor but has always been clean and tidy and with a comfy single bed and ensuite. The hotel itself could do with a make over from floor 1 upwards, the ground floor lounge and 'pub' are okay. There is access to a pool , sauna, small gym and massage/spa shower which I always enjoy and take advantage of, often being the only one there! I've eaten in the 'pub' restaurant and the main restaurant and have been pleased both times , as was served hot, enjoyable tasty food with good portion sizes. For me though, it's the service that stands out . Every time I have stayed I have been taken care of, staff are polite, helpful and want to do their best to assist. There have been lots of tinsel and turkey stayers whilst I've been staying and I've been able to join in the entertainment in the lounge, which has been of top quality. Alcohol prices a bit on the high side but expected for a hotel in this spot. The location is lovely, although I've not yet been lucky enough to have a sea view ! But it's not a long walk down to the pier and park area at all and the bracing sea air is delicious.Overall I am very comfortable when staying at the Suncliff and appreciative of the corporate rate which is excellent value and always appreciative of the warm welcome I receive when I arrive.
