Jorvik Gillygate Practice

I visited the GP due to constant tinnitus, frequent ear pain, and dizziness. However, they informed me that there's nothing they can do and suggested I get used to this pain and dizziness, which is hindering my ability to read and write while I'm here with my student visa now. They might wanted to prevent foreigners to join their medical system... not sure... but it's really frustrating because they don't seem to even try to understand my situation.

Way too many patients for the number of Drs and way, way too many rude receptionists. You'll be lucky to get in touch with them even once without being horrified by how rude and poorly trained the receptionists are. The receptionists have absolutely no accountability and do not care about the patients one bit

Generally a great practice. Getting appointments on a morning is difficult but that's true of every GP. The Clinical Care I have received has been excellent and help when I have sought it has been provided quickly.

Had to make use of the GP surgery a bit more frequently last few weeks and in spite of known chronic underfunding, staff have been professional, helpful, knowledgeable and kind. Whether using Klinik, phone or in person it all works well. Seen someone personally or appt for family member often next day.

Absolute disgrace of a surgery. The quality of the medical care is questionable. When I was seriously ill, the clinic was no use and would not elevate me to the level of help I needed. For minor problems they are better, but it doesn't matter because they will never have an appointment for you. The receptionist are consistently rude and will tell you to phone at 8:00am exactly on the day you need the appointment. If you do this, you will be placed in a queue of at least 50 minutes from which you may be dropped at any time. Even if you get through you will be met with untrained staff that will give you snark for asking for an appointment. Then, they will tell you that there are no appointments left for that day and to phone again tomorrow. I have been trying to get an appointment for at least 2 months now with no luck. They hide behind COVID as an excuse, but actually the problems here have become much worse since the end of the pandemic and lockdown. This is not a doctor's surgery, it is a sham call centre of the worst kind.

The first time I had to contact this practice, they advised me to wait out my symptoms in case I had Covid; I lost 1st until one of my roommates called them up because I couldn't stay awake long enough to contact them again.The second time I had to contact them, the GP made me cry over the phone and never put me on the waitlist she promised she would.The fourth time, I was promised my bloodwork tests back ASAP as it was time sensitive but received my results 2 days late which put me at greater risk.After transferring to a different practice, I tried to also transfer my Patient Access. Bizarrely, Jorvik Gillygate Practice then locked my Patient Access account (only unlockable if I go in person and I now live in a different city) and also updated my relationship to the 'patient' (aka myself), revoking my rights to manage my own account.This practice is not fit for function and I only hope that everyone who uses them is as lucky as me and does not end up seriously hurt due to their malpractice.Edit: As of July 2023, the practice has not responded to me since January despite promising to investigate and having to be prompted repeatedly to respond following my initial complaint. I urge anyone registered here to look for another GP if possible.

Highly recommend this survey. I think the bad reviewers need to remember that the NHS is grossly underfunded and understaffed. I have moved to Manchester and miss this surgery very much - every other survey doesn’t seem to compare. I never struggled to book appointments; yes you have to ring at 8am but it is the same everywhere. I would always have an appointment same day. I mainly used the survey for mental health issues and medication. Every doctor I spoke to was so understanding and empathetic. They complete regular medication reviews and one time when I didn’t ring for my monthly review they called me to check on me. Incredible surgery.

Reception and additional staff brilliant! However most doctors are being rude and patronizing!I wish they would have done their job when needed. An example, I have waited almost one year for a referral to the pain clinic however i needed an MRI firstly in order to be seen by them and the pain clinic requested the imaging, on the 12th of July 2022, to be done by the GP . Since then, GP did not follow that,MRI center didn't receive anything, they haven't requested it etc.and i could add more to the list. i am so uncomfortable losing my proprioception and unable to do my daily routines or work properly. Very dissatisfied, disappointed!! I wouldn't treat my clients the way these people do! I can agree that it is difficult to work with people! Treat us as you'd like to be treated, indifferent of the person's behavior. I am a Vet Surgeon and i took an oath, you did too! It is unacceptable!!

Just terrible.I know a review won't change a lot as we don't have a choice. I can't personally blame the staff and always hold a lot of patience and respect for them but the way this practice operates seems like deliberate mismanagement to force people into demanding a private service. I can't believe it can be this bad purely through incompetence. People are dying or suffering a worsening of illness due to this corporate vandalism. It's disgusting. The plandemic excuse doesn't wash anymore either
