Monarch took on a big complex care package at short notice when our previous care provider badly failed and let us down. The manager and office staff were professional, caring and available for all querys and concerns. The carers were 1st class and went above and beyond what was required, providing emergency care at short notice and supporting the family as well.

I have recently started working at monarch and I have been made to feel so welcome. The girls in the office are great, so supportive and helpful. The manager has given me a chance to better my life and start the career I've wanted and I am so grateful. We are a great team!!! Can't recommend the company enough.

12.9.23 Manager’s feedback is little short of manipulation and gaslighting…goalposts comment is not true as is willingness to discuss. Consequently I will be taking this matter further.Original review - A few staff excellent but my time with Monarch was not easy. On evening and weekends things were more likely to go wrong. Staff were stressed and in a rush, and urine would get spilt and not always cleaned up properly. Urine feels like an acid burn when left on the skin. On another occasion my bottom became bruised through rough treatment. Due to these circumstances I had to call the out of hours nurse twice and my GP on another occasion. I also had to cancel physio. A community nurse and a physio both told me they had left work worried about my bottom with moisture lesions and macerated skin.An email was sent to the office on 7/7/23 detailing how this was affecting me. It was ignored. No safeguarding? A carer told me complaints are often ignored. Some carers suggested I see my GP about my anxiety but I refuse to take antidepressants because staff can’t do their work well. One Saturday my tea time visit was 90 mins earlier then usual and just over 2 hrs after my lunch call. I had to train my body to be ready to urinate when the carers arrive and regularly Monarch have left me holding urine 13-15 hours over night. I was unable to go as I had moderated my fluid intake expecting a later visit. This was distressingand I conveyed my frustration and disappointment to the carers. It was a wasted visit and a waste of Council funds, one of them became truculent and unprofessional. She started banging on about how she was not prepared to drive from service user home to service user home until past 11pm. This was not what I was asking or expecting her to do. She seemed so concerned about her needs with no empathy towards service users. All I was asking was that they speak to the office to find a solution such as a phone call to service users ahead of anomalies. Service users should not be penalised based on their address. The same carer regularly plastered me with so much cream my skin and sheets were still wet and greasy many hours later, left excrement over my toilet and like some other evening carers became huffy when the sheets needed changing. This was unnecessary because I never took up the full time allocated. The younger carer of the two was more positive and rational but the atmosphere could have been cut with a knife on the bed time call a few hours later. Despite writing such an upsetting account I wish these two carers well and hope in future they realise the power they have to create positive change from problems rather than cause unnecessary drama.Additionally , I have felt dehumanised having to ask staff to stop speed plastering me simultaneously with cream whilst on the pan. One carer said, “Please don’t complain it’s my birthday and you are the only person who complains”. I then heard this is not true and that the very same carer put someone to bed fully dressed the same shift she’d challenged me.My son was irritated by carers leaving the key safe door open, traipsing mud around the home, and leaving dirty gloves and trails of sweet wrappers around. He felt like he had to clean up after them, at weekends he would say they have not flushed the toilet again.Additional stress and negligence caused me problems at an already vulnerable time. Monarch failed to meet some basic care needs. Friends commented that I was losing my self-esteem. I see that in 2021 the CQC rated Monarch as needing improvement with being well-led and safety, and this is my experience.

I have worked for Monarch for around 2 years now, i have worked for other care companies and these are by far the best. I would just like to say what a fantastic company they are. The staff who I've encountered and worked with personally are second to none - we try our very best and go above and beyond for each and every one of our clients... for me personally - we goto our clients so often that we create strong bonds and relationships which I think is so important to me that my clients become my extended family so I strive to give the best care I possibly can as that's what I would want for my own family members!Equally for the office staff - they work 24/7 even when the office is closed. They are at home working to do all they can for clients, there family members and to support staff to give the very highest level of care, compassion and support possible.
