The Amsterdam Hotel - Brighton UK
We stayed for one night. The staff were very friendly when we arrived and buying a parking permit for the area was easy and a convenient option. Ok check in, we had someone on the scaffolding outside our room painting the front of the hotel and listening to the radio so we could not relax before going out again. The room itself was spacious and clean but the noise from the road, the club with bass pounding until 5ish am plus the drunken party goers leaving and shouting on the street, and the wind through the scaffolding covering our window meant that we had very little sleep. We should probably have been alarmed by the ear plugs waiting for us when we arrived. This cost £106 for the night on a Saturday and I do not feel that this was value for money given the poor rest we actually got. The layout of the hotel was very difficult to navigate and it is not clear where some of the rooms are - particularly from the lift.

We booked a room with two separate beds. Unfortunately, we got a room with a single double bed. When booking the hotel, there was no mention of a noisy nightclub anywhere. Sure, they give you free earplugs, but I surely would have liked to know before booking. The only upside is the location. You're right at the center of the city. I can't really recommend this hotel unless you are willing to sacrifice your comfort and sleep.

Room was nice and warm but the bathroom had a smell and needs to have a good shower unit. All and all a great location to stay. Will surely visit again.

Staff are all very friendly & welcoming, and room tidiness was up to an acceptable hotel-level.The lift up to the rooms is a little small, but it is better than no lift. And parking is only on-street so could be hit & miss if not timed right, but there is legitimately no where for the hotel to accomodate for a car-park so it cannot be helped.Sea view was nice, and has all the commoditities for a few nights away. It is also convinently located next to the Pier & within walking distance to the Laines & North Laines.

Pros:- next to beach- next to town centre- lots of pubs in area- life show in hotel- nice bar in hotelCons:- shower didn't had cold water ably worm and hot- music from bar was very loud till past midnight people was jumping and was noisy so if you want to sleep straight after arrival this hotel maybe not for you- no parking at hotel, have to look for parking spaces in residential area.

Room was really good, nice view. Slept well. Didn't like the open shower in the bathroom tho. Slipping is likely if you don't put towels down. You'll get wet feet while you pee if your partner is showering. They give you earplugs due to nightclubs/bars nearby (that doesn't bother me personally). Staff were friendly upon checking in and out.Be warned It can be a pain to park, but I can't fault the hotel for that.Overall pretty good

Although the location and the service provided to us by the hotel stuff were good, those 2 factors can’t compensate the level cleanliness of the room and the interesting choice of a plan for the bathroom, so overall rating is still 1 star. The details follow.1. The surfaces of the furniture were pretty dusty. I literally found a layer of dust on my jacket after leaving it on the shelf. It seemed like they haven’t properly cleaned our room for weeks.2. The shower is located right next to the toilet, so the floor in the bathroom gets wet after having a shower, which makes it very uncomfortable to use. There were no photos of the bathroom on the booking page, so the surprise factor contributed the most to the negative experience.3. The receptionist was very nice and friendly, it was easy to check in and check out.

Great hotel, standard of rooms vary. I've stayed in a lovely room, to a a room with a shared bathroom and tonight a kind of pleasant room, nice but could do with a little work. I'll stay here again, it's a great location, apart from the few oddities, it's a great place to stay.

A basic hotel. Rooms are clean and the shower and lift work. The complementary breakfast should not be relied on. The room we had at the front was really noisy and the room was poorly aired which meant a build up of moisture. There is a nightclub and outside bar downstairs.
